Ibiza cupra TDI- Stage one P-torque remap dyno results

Evening all, finally got my cupra remapped on Friday. I know there are plenty of companys to choose from when it comes to this service. But i had heard alot of good things about performance torque.

Bit about the service, very quick and proffesional. Top gear dvd was loaded and ready for my arrival . Then Will set about the process, he first test drove my car to make sure it was safe to put on the rollers etc. Then he put it on the rollers and ran it, made a good healthy figure. Went and watched the top gear winter olympics special then went back out to watch it do the post map runs. The change in the car was clear from just watching the way it set about the rollers, the extra ferocity and power it put down was quite something.

He then took it for a test himself to make sure everything was running ok, then he handed me the keys and i went for a blast... absolutely amazing is all i can say, its like a totally different car. Rapid rapid car now!! Its hard to describe the extra performance, certainly feels more than the dyno results show! The car when driven normally is also an absolute joy, so smooth, again the change is hard to describe, im no expert but the engine seems more alive and reponsive. Fuel consumption on my commute this morning and afternoon was pretty much unchanged at 47mpg, so thats excellent . Just to confirm, there are no mods to the car other than the p-torque stage one map and a strut brace, its done about 34k ish.

I'm a bit surprised at 173bhp before the remap, I got 163bhp before a remap and thought it was good! The graph looks good for torque though I bet it feels quick.

Think ill be tempted by p-torque one day, heard nothing but good things. Car came with custom code on it and made 164hp and 272ftlb's torque on the rollers (its an fr not a cupra though) seen people get 180hp and 295ftlb's from Will though and that temps me plenty lol

Bet your chuffed to bits, can make more use of them big brakes now

Looking at your wheel hp though you're higher than me by about 2 - 5 bhp (I had two runs) so your or my loss may be calculated a bit off .. that's what you get with rolling roads. To get a decent comparison we'd need to run at the same time on the same rolling road

I think realistically it'll be slightly less at the flywheel if you took the engine out and then tested it but I like the figures lol. It's a ********* stage 1 remap, green panel filter and turbo back Milltek exhaust. The clutch is standard (and as yet hasn't slipped but I do tend to drive around the chance of slippage rather than just nailing it and ruining it)

Its what Will was saying though, its not about peak figures, its all in the delivery of the power. Its the spread of power and torque that pleases me the most. Im really suprised at 344 ib/ft your clutch is still alive!! Must tear your face off when you plant it.

It's very very rapid, I think the clutch is saved by the wheel spin hehe .. I tend to be gentle with it above 3rd until I know I'm past the point of clutch judder (a pre-cursor to slip so I'm told). He's right about delivery though I'm not bothered about figures it's consistent power which is what I've got and looking at your graph you should have too

90% of the time my car will be on my commute to work, where i hardly thrash it... so realistically its only going to be hammered 10% of the time track day booked in July..

Absolutely destroyed a Nissan micra from the lights the other day.... pure gangster...

To be honest the time I find mine the most fun and great for embarassing bigger cars (hello Mr BMW and Mr Mercedes ... not that I'd do that though .. honest) is on motorways and dual carriageways in 6th. I don't think diesels are particularly happy at 0-60s although the ibiza does it well enough. I find it much more fun in 3rd and 5th with a really big shove in the back.

Exiting corners, coming off roundabouts, anywhere you can exploit the massive mid range grunt. 0-60 would be quicker if you could get to 60 in 1 gear change, but you need 2. I hear with an uprated clutch 2nd gear launches are possible.

I'm not sure I'd be going for 2nd gear launches unless you're at a drag strip, I think it'd still put a lot of wear on the clutch, probably possible though. Enjoy anyway! I'll try to stick up my graph tomorrow if I can scan it at work
