Average between 50mpg and 60mpg on my 19 mile drive home. I have had it as high as 64.2mpg. Hopefully I'll get more when my 1.6TDI Ecomotive has been built. Still another 14 weeks to wait, though. :(

Are all of these figures based on the Trip Computer read out or are people doing proper brim to brim tests/calculations? I am in the market for a car soon and am seriously considering the Altea. If these figures can be relied upon then the case for one becomes stronger still.

PS. I am not saying that you guys are not reliable, just that I have had wildly differing values from my trip comps in the past, whereby it says ~50mpg but I am actually only getting 41. (this is a Longbridge vehicle though so that may explain it, gawd bless em!)

PPS. Oldtimer is right, don't forget to check that air filter is not blocked, tyre pressures are correct etc. These things can have a surprising effect on a cars fuel economy.

My figures are off the trip, wether they are correct or not I know not:think:

Mine too...and watching it radically bounce around (whilst keeping a watchful eye on the road of course  ) makes me question it's accuracy big time!

Still, after a month of ownership I'd say the manufacturer's claims are pretty accurate and can be achieved when driven accordingly.

Which model are you swaying towards Phil? I think in hindsight I'd have gone for the 2.0 TDi sport but the FR came up at the right time (or was that the wrong time?!) had it chipped and enjoyed slightly better fuel consumption and a more 'supple' ride.

absolutely, my trip has a long term mpg figure of 60.3, whereas actual (logged for nearly last 5 year ) is a solid 50mpg. It always read high from new (about 5mpg or so) and strangely got worse when i had the cambelt done (i.e. it made it worse by another 5mpg or so), always best to take trip mpg reading with a pinch of salt

Thanks for that guys. Even at a solid 50mpg I will be making considerable saving over the current lump which is resolutely stuck at 41mpg even when I drive like a vicar!

I'm looking at 2.0TDi Sport DSG's and occasionally swayed towards the FR. I'm a bit of an old boy racer at heart so like things to look sporty etc. so the FR tugs the heart strings, but if I can find a good Sport DSG with 17's and a few interior toys on I'll probably go with that. All rides on us getting a bonus (and no I don't work for a bank) in a month or so, otherwise the Longbridge Longboat (MG-ZT) will have to last another year/25k miles. So Fingers crossed...

Averaging 41.5 mpg at the moment with lots of town driving. That's measured mpg from fill to fill not indicated mpg, although the indication is pretty accurate. Bedford to Nottingham 100 mile mostly M1 at weekends can get it up to 44-45mpg doing 80ish on the motorway section.

I have a altea xl Stylance 2 ltr tdi 170

I get around the 40 to 45 mpg when on a run but only get 35 to 40 to and from work,

Im gonig on a trip to surrey in two weeks (I live in cornwall) so it should be a good 400 mile round trip so i will see what i get,

It's also going in to a seat dealer next week for I'ts 2yearly 20K mile sevice so all filters will be clean and i'm hoping for some good results.

I too am looking to geting a remap to see if i can get more mpg and allso to break the 200bhp mark in a derv (lol)

I don't know weather to do this before i go to surrey or wait til after.

Minimum 70 to 80 miles driven every day - visiting 4 to 6 customer sites around Cambridgeshire.

Always finish the day on minimum average 54 to 56mpg.

There is a very steep fall off in mpg beyond 65 mph.

There are also some interesting results on whether to go up to 6th gear or stay in 5th when obeying 50mph limits - seems best to stay in 5th.
