I have a bmc intake, restrictive ? would I really be better off ditching the £200 bmc for a £45 jetex, seen the airflow tests on the jetex but not compared to the bmc. Please advise.

Regards

Tim

yes i would if i was you. i have also spent £100s on induction kits and the jetex is by far the best. like i said before the bmc are too restrictive. you can get away with one on a standard map but if you have the car remapped it will struggle. in fact it has been known the the tuners will dump the bmc altogether and fit the standard air box back on.

Got a stainless mesh Powertec on mine, great sound, good quality and looks the bollocks being aluminium and stainless steel. Got good figures on the R/R aswell with 228 bhp with just that and the N249 bypass !!!! :p

I am also considering the powertec induction kit. I am very impressed with the looks and feel it will go well with my silver cupra.

Was it easy to fit mate? Also th thing that attracted me was that its a non oiled filter :)

Dead easy to fit mate. You get a nice bracket with a built in jubilee clip, which screws into a spare thread on top of the gearbox !!! :p

If you p.m me your e-mail address i'll send you some pictures if you like..

i fitted my jetex filtet the other day and am well impressed, had a green cotton filter and a drilled/smoothed original airbox before but the sound is so much better, and you can really hear the dv now

anyone got a sound clip of what the jetex filter sounds like?

i got bored last night and trial fitted a high flow cone filter to see how the car went. accelleration is better but i was dissapointed at the noise.

its barely audiable inside the car and not much better with the windows down, i was rather hoping for a bit more :( My Mr2 used to sound like a jet engine sucking in air on full chat, the LCr is more of a quiet sucking noise :(

still cant really hear the 007p that well either, and people have said its the louder of the recircs??

Next mission is to rip out all the sound proofing in the engine bay.

So do you all recommend the jetex for the LC too? also is it the same cone and part number? I am thinking i need to purchase one of these before my remap :p

Right i have decided i am going to buy a Jetex cone, didnt take me long to decide to be fair but i really want that induction noise.

Just 2 things that i need to ask...

1. Does it go in the standard airbox or do you remove it completely....

2. How do you remove the soundproofing from under the bonnet??

Cheers :p

soundproofing is held on with about 15 little plastic clips, pinch them together and they come out and can be reused.

you can leave the lower half of the stock air box, but i would remove it and extend the cold air feed from the stock location. i would also make some soft of heat sheild up as well.

Do you have any pictures of your bay to show me what you mean> Just i am unsure what to do... sounds bit thick i know :)

So should i butcher my airbox to make a small heat sheild or just just something else?

dont butcher your air box. keep it as a spare. what you want to do it have a good cold air feed going to the jetex filter. most people use a 3inch cold feed. also imsure as you have a lc you can run the cold feed to the front fog light.

TUBBY TWO im glad you are happy now :) now try running your dumpvalve in reverse. then you will be really happy :D
