Toyo R888s on the road

Fitted some R888s to the Leon today.

Many people used Toyo R888s as an everyday tyre? Very noisy, very, very noisy!

Hope the performance compensates for the road noise!

Tried a mates R1Rs at the weekend, they are the way forward, not as much noise extra wet grip and just as grippy in the dry...

My cars not exactly refined with solid engine/gearbox mounts, non-res miltek, de-cat, etc etc etc,
but its never bothered me, makes it feel sporty. This noise however may have crossed the line lol

Just going to drop the pressures as I just found out they should be 27psi Col MAX ...

Yeah they are very noisy indeed. Perhaps not as much as other semi-slick tyres, but for every day runs they're intolerable by some.

I thought my Paradas were noisy until I tried the R888's in a friend's car.

R1Rs are the danglies. Mine are on the legal limit after 3k but still grip like **** to a blanket when warm, and they get warm quickly.

just ordered vred ultrac sess's and getting them put on on saturday... dont have the money for the Toyo's...

Think Al is more interested in straight lines than roundabouts mate.

Interested in both actually. The Kumhos turned out to have crap traction in a straight line, but they are very good in corners when they have some heat in them.

well if they are anything like my r1rs its esp of and hold on. Car just grips onto corners, you can really throw the steering about as if its a car half the leons size and it just holds. Its good ****, expecially once you get some warmth into them.

Saved my bacon that time I told you about mate a while ago when I was out with dan, as these tyres just fill you with confidence as they are communicatve and do what you want them to do.

expensive habit though mate, last roughly half as long as GY eagle f1 assys, and as you know more pricey to boot

The R888's sound like a tractor when on the motorway. I love the sound of them. Admittedly they aren't to everyone's taste and after having them on mine and moving to R1R's then the R1R's get my vote. They are much quieter, have a deeper tread than R888's from new and has nearly all the grip in the dry and more grip than the R888's in the wet. I also reckon that spirited drivers will get more life out of R888's and R1R's than normal road tyres due to less spinning of them.

I came through Belgium and France in the worst downpour I've ever seen at between 70-80mph and the R888's were aquaplaning evry half a mile or so. It definitely tought me the art of car control when out of control
