Just received my new Jetex filter through the post,Thanks go to Bill at Badger5 for his great service.After fitting car definitely sounds meatier when you bang your foot down,there's possibly a tiny touch of lag as it's having to pull the air in as requested.I'll get some logs done and see how it fares compared to previous,smoothed box and cotton filter with a 3" cold feed.

Looks nice :) How bad is the extra lag? I'm interested in one of these but I don't really fancy losing any response/power low down the range, lots of twisty back rounds round here.

Tbh mate it was very slight,i need to let it settle and the ECU get used to the new settings before i can be sure or not.Will run some logs tomorrow and see how they compare.

Good point, never thought about the ECU having to adapt. I'm interested to hear what it's like after a week or so, if you don't mind keeping me posted.

very intrested in this too as always been a fan of the smoth box with green panel & CAI

Why do people insist on putting a flippin bend right before where the MAF is, think about it, the air needs to move in a linear flow to be read accurately by the MAF, this setup does not encourage this, any tuner will worth his salt would not advise this, Apart from that i am not sure about red and blue, would need to ask my wife if those two colours clash:lol:

:(
didn't know any different mate,and as I'd got the full kit from Bill,I thought that was the set-up,I'll look at altering it then if it's going to affect the MAF.
Wish I could have got a red filter but don't think they do them :(

Looking at your sig pic do you have your MAF bolted straight to the filter?
Thought that was not optimal set up either.

It is best to have a straight run at the MAF sensor but the fins in the MAF do straighten the flow out

simply put, it makes no difference to a std MAF which has its flow straighteners in place

if people want to extend the filters to the inner more then they have a choice to use an elbow Or not..

Jetex filter come in yellow, red and the norm blue colour.

OMG!! You can get the Jetex in YELLOW?!! :) How much and where from??!! Ok so i have a viper kit - and love the sound from the 007p through the connecting pipe, if i move to an open cone ill get a louder "rarrrrr" but would I loose that lovely DV sound?

Mainly now ive heard I can get a yellow filter I want one! :funk:

Or failing that does anyone make a twin intake for the Cupra? Mates mk5 gti just had twin forge fitted and thats the nuts! :)

Hello people,
i installed the open cone jetex filter a few weeks ago,
just posting up the findings from another thread...

LCR with stage 1 revo,

I did some tests using my Liquid Gauge before and after the installation (around 22 degrees outside - 9pm ish on both days)

Before - OEM Air Box

Torque = 270
MAF g/s = 195
BHP (g/s x 1.25) = 243

After - Jetex Air Filter
Torque = 282
MAF g/s = 208
BHP (g/s x 1.25) = 260

Mid-High end revs - better performance, feels like the car has higher lung capacity.
low end revs - longer spool up and lag compared to the OEM Air box.

Noise - Definate PLUS side here - Theres a beautiful Groan/Growl when the car hits mid revs (similar to a Astra VXR growl, if anyone knows..)
Also much more DV sound, sounds like a little dump valve when changing gears...
This noise however isnt TOO loud which is exactly how i wanted it.....

I found that using a straight silicone spacer and coupler to push the filter further into the wing and into a cooler area (i.e. not right above the turbocharger) helped to reduce the lag. I guess this might be due to the car being able to suck in greater volumes of air into the turbocharger as we all know that cold air molecules are closer together/more compact than warm air molecules, allowing more air to pass into the filter, MAF sensor & turbocharger ;)
