My Aunt's Ibiza has a similar issue at the moment - the compressor isn't kicking in.
Run a VAG COM session on it the other night and it came back with a faulty high pressure sensor.
Has anyone else changed one of these? How much does it cost?
Alll I know is the removing it seals the valve so no gas is lost - 17mm spanner I think :think:

There is a post on the skoda forum that details how to replace a temp sensor that causes the AC to run hot, sounds just like your issue. Its in the faq section for fabia.

If the light on the AC button comes on its not a fuse but still could be the temp control flaps not moving as they should to let the cold air past - VAG com will show this.

as a side note those cans should only be used as a small top up when you can be relatively sure that the system oil level is OK etc - even then a bit of a gamble but I have used them for small top ups several times with no issue - for empty systems go to a place that has the correct machine

good luck

The cans are fine as long as your not an idiot with them. The real problem is that as techie said, its highly illegal to let the gas into the atmosphere so the cans have to be disposed of very carefully. You can bleed a ac system but it will be illegal due to letting the gasses out into the atmosphere (you can also damage the system and seals if not carefull and also your low side). But Halfords are going to be continuing the range by introducing a rebate on empty cans to try and eliminate people disposing them in the wrong way.

Hi. Little bit of topic but very close. I will need a little bit of help. My Mk4 does not have AC by default, so now I installed the whole system, pipes, fans, and so on. The problem is since I do not have the whole cable and the computer of the AC version I need to make a small electronic which controls the whole think. I'm stuck a little bit, because even I know the right preasure values that should be i n the system, I do not know what resistance (OHM) I should measure on the valve. Thank you for your help.

i finally got round to running a vag-com scan and it came up with the following results;

are any of the above 4 faults easily fixed or replaced? :shrug:
or by any chance is it just one fault causing all 4? :shrug:

air con with vagcom.

Go into HVAC, click on basic settings then channel 01 and hit go.

If will runt he flaps though their basic setting sweep setting the stops on the flap motors.

so this may reset the system?:shrug:

i'll give that a go tomorrow after work! Top tip!!! :coolthumb

The fault codes you have are that the flaps arent working correctly. This will effect how your AC works. The flaps are run by motors, for the ECU to know where the flaps are it needs to know when they are fully open or fully closed etc. If its lost these settings (can do if the battery is disconnected or the control unit unplugged) then it could well not open a flap when it should.

oh....i see :idea:....i'll post how i get on!:D

cool keep us posted on how you get on :) My car's booked into for checking this coming weekend. BTW does your climate control display flash when you start the car up?

did as you suggested Techie and then cleared the fault codes....now it is saying only 1 fault found, as per below;

00710 - Defroster Flap Positioning Motor (V107)

Sounds like either the motor is faulty or jammed then. 99% sure it's dash out for that one although that's pretty easy.

can you feel your air con kick in? I have same issue as D-Power as when I press the Econ button so it goes off (on coldest setting) nothing happens (i.e. can't feel the air con kick in or higher revs)

Maybe you got your A/C compressing who is going dead slowly. Have a check.

here's want happen to me.

For over the last 2 year and a half, my A/C was working only when it wanted. Did some check and everything. I found nothing. I talk to some guy, one got the same problem. What happen to him was the control of the A/C was dead. A transistor fried and kill the A/C. Price to change it was £££££ (need to get the whole dashboard out to acces it).
So I though it was the same on mine. But as I say, mine was working when it wanted (A/C on a moment then nothing)
I also got problem with hot start for a year and half. It was happen sometimes, then too often. Then even on cold start. So I get to see my mechanic. He check the car. As I though, the water temp sensor was getting dead (sometimes, I was rolling for 20 min, with my temp gauges still on 0, weird!)
He change it. I try the A/C a week after he fix it, it was running fine. My A/C is now fine. A single shitty dead sensor was making :
- bad hot start (injecting too much fuel)
- killed the A/C
- getting me bad mileage

Not sure if it's your problem, but might help others.

So if you got your temp gauges still on 0 after some driving when it shoudl be higher, and that your A/C is working when it want, check your water temp sensor!

Slightly off topic but everytime my aircon is switched on I get a fusty smell and it has just been recently serviced with a new pollen filter fitted, any ideas?
