Evening all,

Following on from my previous starting issues we think my flywheel might be knacked. To asses this i need to be able to see it so just weighing up how much it might cost at a garage and if its something I could do with some help?

How many hours do you think to replace by a garage and then by me?

Cheers

It's not easy gotta drop the box out then deasemble the clutch and remove wheel will take a few hours to grtvthe box out safely unless you know what your doing and have had some experience

I'm not 100% about clutch but I'm pretty sure you will have to

It took me and two mates (2 novices and one self taught mechanic) 3 and a half hours to take the box out, 10 minutes to replace the clutch and 4 hours to put the box back in. pain in the arse job just to get the clutch changed.

yea but ithey wont do flywheel at the same time :( unles you pay for it

Once the clutch is out its a matter of 6 bolts (iirc) and the flywheel is off. The bit that takes the longest is getting the box in and out and bolting it all back together!

Yup

Anyone know if there much in the way coz you have to take off everything in your way well most of it.
And the flywheel bolts a set to a toque setting which you will have to find out a then set them back to it or it will fall off:D and you don't want that now ;)

As it would be just me and the old man think im going to have to get it done by a garage so it just time to get some quotes then decide if its worth putting an uprated clutch and SMF in while its all out or just go for stock to keep cost down

When i took my box out i had to undo the subframe as well to give clearance to get it out. It is a relatively easy job to do just have to be methodical and make sure everything is off, before you try and take it out.

Looking at your sig I would be thinking about an uprated clutch and SMF.

And make sure you have something to lower it out slowly dnt want it droping out my mate droped a box on my pinky and fook me did it hurt :( bled a fair bit to lucky it was only an inch off the floor ;)

Cars going to DSB tomorrow afternoon - Cheers Gavin so will update once the problem is hopefully identified. Fingers crossed its cheap seeing as i'v just spend £££'s on the Hybrid

Well its going in for them to try and find the fault. It might not be the flywheel but thats what ive been told so we'll see what they say. Im now thinking its electrical but truth is i just dont know
