Evening folks, took my bonnet bra off yesturday and everything was as i expected, normal. today i washed the car but in the the shampoo i added a cap full of polish to give it an extra shine, as it happends i dryed the car off and noticed some pink "cloud shaped" patches on the front just above the grills, i cant put it down to anything, though as it cant be faded by sun under the bonnet bra (not that there have been any) any ideas?

Might be where the bra has moved and marred the finish... perhaps. Post a pic in the detailing section, lots of experts in there.

Most likely needs some form of corrective polishing.

funnily enough i wondered that, but it hardly moves! all i can think is...acid rain?

Stick a hand out the window at 80 mph... and feel how much its moved around... air is a bitch. Any dirt under the bra would get agitated around by the bra like sand paper i should think.

Best bet is to post a pic.

i will do tomorrow matey, just a real bummer! tempted to get it resprayed cause its covered it chips anyway :( or just get it wrapped in a carbon fibre like wrap!

ive tryed polish, paint renovator, nothing has worked lol .... im out of ideas, maybe someone who is good with a machine could do it :help:

Hmmm. Doesnt sound too good. Sounds like its effected the paint under the clear coat.. or done something to the clear coat. Could be water trapped against it as you said.

same thing happened to mine on my corsa, had the bra on for months took it off and it left cloudy marks across the bonnet in a straight line.

Nothing sorted it and had to get a new bonnet before selling on, Major fail haha

yeah i had mine on for a week lol, anyways been out today and you can only notice it when the light hits it dead on were the patches are, noone will notice unless pointed out or you go hunting around looking for something you dont know is there :D

either get it respray and leave the bra off, or just leave the bra on, doesnt matter whats hidden under there lol

yeah if it was worse id probs leave it on more often but just try not to let it get worse, i dont see the point in a repsray on the bonnet the car is 8 year old and i would never get my money back if i got it sprayed on the front lol.

You're not meant to keep bra's on all the time, just for journeys really or things get trapped between them and the surface of the paint, as it soundsl ike has happened here :(

my bonnet bra has ruined mine too! i have got a line right across the bonnet from the movement of the bra!

i thought they were meant to protect your bonnet!

Yes... but does the bonnet have stone chips...?

I think we can safely advise anyone asking about bonnet bras, that they are almost certainly not for long term use.
