gutted mate, where did you take it? because it sounds like you are being fobbed off a bit , thats one hell of a earth fault if its the amp causing it . seems strange that you have had that set-up for a while with no probs

ok guys i realy need you lot to put in on this

its defo not the amp that is doing this as it has been off the car for ages now and has done the ecu twice scince it has been off

now i do have three 10watt 330oms resistors on the n114 ,n249 and the SAI pump plug, would these be an issue at do you think?

also i have HID kit on would these balast units be an issue?

would faulty cluster unit be an issue?

any idears would be something just want this sorted now

Hmmm strange....I would just remove all the resistors 1st as they linked to the ecu.... Have you checked the wiring loom?

whats the battery saying, and alternator? checked they not over charging..?

yea i think il take all the resistors off n put the solenoid valves back on

ermm its a new batt i was doing it befor i changed the batt as well as for the alt im not sure may have to look into that one

ow an the hole wireing loom as been checked and is fine

is it posable to get an resistor the rong way round?

also would the cluster unit be at fault, what im saying is would it be werth replaceing these as well

Hev you removed all the resistors?
Have you checked all the fuses are the correct rating? you can try ftting a lower watt fuse(s) for ecu to reduce the risk ecu going again...
May be can give it a go with the cluster.....
all earth point rust free?

When you say the ECU is popping has it destroyed the ECU or just the fuse?

If its just the fuse then i would look at the earth points especially the ECU earth (generally under the scuttle panel) and also if water has found its way into the ECU this will pose an issue.

After this i would look at the wiring loom in detail.

na the ecu its self

where is the fuse for it?

rissitors are still on at the mo as i have not been on the thing yet

whats the car doing when its popped ? iv had a similar problem with mine but only gone thorugh 1 ecu touch wood but it had a bit of water in it more condensation then water but not much iv just sent both ECUs to jabba to have the map taken off the broke one and put on another but i wanna make suer it was only condensation that caused the problem with the ecu not wiring like it seems your having ? cause mine was fine till it got mapped then 3 days later it blew ! i changed loads of relays n fuses etc but the ecu didnt just break n not work it sort of died slowly n worked then died when the car was running tho after the eci was playing up i was getting the fault code saying the ecu voltage too low !?

mine just dos it when you go to start it

ive a very funny feeling that it may be to do with the resistor that are in place off the n249 and the n114 witch are to do with the SAI witch comes in on start up ,so they are comeing off and the valves being put back on when i get on it

wel it has been at a garage for a while and the chap as defo checked the loom im not sure about the starter motor or alt but i will find out

no the chap is ok with me just keeping it at his garage until i get round to sorting it,it is in march at the mo but i have the fresh ecu ready to be cloned and i wil be takeing the resistors off

the 1st place the ECU whent back to(the ecu doctor):w4nk:said it was down to electrical noise

what ever that is

the 1st place the ECU whent back to(the ecu doctor):w4nk:said it was down to electrical noise

what ever that is
WTF! I'm a sparky and ive never heard of electrical noise does he mean the current is arcing??? If so its either loose terminals or an alien body within the terminals eg, water ,oil anything that conducts electricity ,has your ecu got the factory rain cover fitted???

when you say rain cover you mean the the caky bit that lays over the top then yes

but tom it has been back an foward for repair at least five times now with two diffrent companys

so im starting fresh now as so many fingers in it by diffrent people

yea this ECU doctor could not give me a strate answer as to why/where ie pin no ect ect all he could say was "electrical noise" and when i asked him what they had done he was saying "ow we had to re-calerbrate the ecu" any way it ended up going to him three times and one time it came back rattleing! i would never ever use this company again, last place it whent was BBA REEM who still could not give a strate answer to the chap who was trying to fix my car at this point, seems these companys are more of a monkey fixing it rap it up and then send it back....bloody help full as dog poo in your air vents

the poor bloke who was trying to fix it last was doing realy well but then when your trying to get important imfo out of these companys who are repairing the ecu and they dont know, what the bloody hell are you spozed to do
