The front of the FL Cupra and Cupra R does look rank at the front, hence why I chose to change mine fairly quickly, but it looks loads better than it would with an Aero bumper there.

Out of curiousity Al, how have you changed your facelift, aftermarket bumper?

More info here as I don't want to clutter up this thread :)

Ok mate, back to the focus RS, I had one parked next to me a few weeks back and it totally dwarfed my leon, like it was on steroids!

they are a big car arnt they daz i wonder what weight they are if that makes much of a differnce because i think theyre around 290 hp but look heavy

The Focus RS is typically 15bhp down on manufacturers claims and weighs in at just under 1500kg.

290bhp approx and 1468kg as memory serves or just under 200bhp per tonne (197).

As a comparison, the MK2 LC which tends to make 260bhp out the box and weigh 100kg less makes 190bhp per tonne. Add the 20bhp more the LCR will have out the box and you will have about 204bhp per tonne.

rs = awesome road presence but in a car id rather not stick out like a sore thumb. They dont seem terribly quick either, though im sure like the leon, a map would sort that out!

al my friend its guys like you that make this forum! all the info we ever need quality! Oh and your quicker than a rs then ;)

Na, the Focus RS is a weapon, even with the OEM Turbo. 444bhp with bolt ons sir? That will be "only"£3627.50 (£4200 fitted)

Add up the price for a S2+ Leon - £1k for the TBE, £300 for the intake, £500 for the intercooler, £400 for the fuel pump and £500 for the map (plus fitting where it applies), and you will have "only" approx 350bhp, no LSD, crap chassis, and the 100kg defecit is also a 100bhp defecit. All of a sudden power to weight is

Focus - 302bhp per tonne
Leon - 255 bhp per tonne

Focus is a better car to tune than our K04 2.0TFSi is. Not sure it may be as "hardy" as the TFSi though.

Careful Al, you're selling it to me :lol: Also I'm a believer that you should own a RS during your lifetime, the closest I got was a keyring to my old mkII escort!

Also remember the torque on the Focus would be a lot higher than it is on the Leon with its higher cubic capacity and extra cylinder.

I would have an Escort RS Cosworth before a Focus RS, but I agree on the must have an RS at some point statement. I did consider a Focus RS, but they are too common.

mate used to have a sierra saph cossie and although it was old n that it was quailty just something magic about it really, fast too

i have to agree with you on that one mate, i thought that the RS was to be sold in limited numbers? but i have seen more of them on the roads than our cupras

Have to disagree with you there Al.. Not seen a RS produce those figures on a RR on OEM blower yet. Seen plenty of claims though..
For instance, when we were at Pod the other weekend there was a RS there with the Jamsport 450 kit and his best was a 13.0 @ 112mph. This was with 888's, LC and a few other expensive goodies...
They may make more max power than the TFSI when modded (even though it's got a 70bhp headstart). But actual £ - bhp it's no better IMO. Then let's not forget it's obesity problem.
Pov's had quite a few experiences with Stage 3 RS' ;)
Don't get me wrong, after having driven one (standard) and always loved the looks of them, i'm a massive fan of them. Unfortunately there are a few reasons why I haven't gone for the blue oval myself. Main ones being...
Running costs (MPG, Tyres, Tax etc)
To aggresive, 'In your face' for my job
Interior would be a step down considering it's competition (S3, 135i)
Would be a Police magnet IMO too...
For a weekend toy I would be very tempted though and even though I would have to spend £3-4k on mods to bring it up to the pace of the ED30, it would obviously run rings around it on the twisty stuff though :(

Did you ever find the spec of the one I saw run at Crail Ben?
