Hi All,

I have been tralling through the Toyosport intercooler threads and i am trying to get a grip on the various issues related to fitting the toyosport intercooler kit, I was originally going to go for the Forge Kit but i simply cant walk away from the value of this kit before having a go at fitting it myself.

Now im a complete tart and i will be powdercoating all the metal pipework anyway and changing the silicone joiner pieces for a different colour (shut up andy!!!) so im not fussed about that side of things, the core itself looks to be of good quality too so also no issues there.

My only concern as i am fussy is that i dont want to be losing my front grills or chopping my bumper about to get this kit to fit, the minor bit of fiddling is a given when fitting something like this and im aware i will lose my fogs however i have them removed already anyway.

Please could you guys tell me what issues you have encountered fitting this kit to a FACELIFT bumpered leon???

I have searched but things are a little brief and cloudy as regards to problems.

:lol::lol::p:lol: HAHAHAHAHA

OMG its so true!! All show and no go:whistle: we will teach ya to drive properly mate, cant believe your car can be that much slower than mine?!!

But yes, we will both get the Toyo intercoolers - The tarts is facelift and mine is currently standard cupraness. I on the other hand would like to keep my fogs (is it possible) and DO NOT want to do a Sam (Pyro) and look like a complete T*T with it half hanging out!

But will then need to find some honey comb as I have my induction pipe in the middle front grill and wana keep it there.

PS Jim, 4am for this post.............. REALLLYYY!!!!

No you can't keep your figs Andy not possible with this kit you will have to loes the fogs as you know and cut some of tge bumper out the biggest problem is getting the pipes tge rite way round as I know first hand if you search my (no idea how to fit mt intercooler kit) thread then there's loads of pics in there of tge set up and a good bit of info on what to do and what bot to do ;) lol yes I fuked mine up as we all know but it's a learning curve and I decided to share it with you all so you don't make the same mistake they are a really good bit of kit and nice fit the only thing I don't know is how much if the facelift bumper you need to cut :(Mo arif will know tho ;) as he has it with face lift bumper

Hummm where theres a will theres a way!! Even if its aftermarket fogs and honeycombe the entire bumper and tuck the fogs somewhere........................ Do quite a few Cornish trips and gets foggy down there :p

& Cheers Sam, we will print out EVERYTHING that anyones ever done, remember some pretty useful stuff on this and hopefully get the FMIC's on both our cars soon. Then after xmas stage 2 for both! :D haha!!!

you can keep the fogs on a facelift , it just requires extra bends and messing

i fitted the one in my sig , keeping fogs , a ball ache but can be done

look at my readers ride thred theres a couple of pics

Having fitted a Toyosports FMIC to my LC I wish I'd gone for the Forge kit. By the time you have changed the silicon couplers and got someone to TIG weld the take offs for the DV/N75(?) you will of spent another £100. Forge would of been a simpler install IMO.

The Toyosports FMIC does an excellent job with regards to cooling - dropped my intake temps by a huge amount so the car pulls a lot harder at higher revs; so I can not fault it there. But I think the fit is a bit touch and go (maybe better on pre face lift cars).

The clamps are a little to large for the smaller diameter couplers, the coupler to the turbo is to big and creates a boost leak and trying to get a good fit for the coupler on the nearside at the bottom was difficult (coupler could of done with being 30-40mm longer.

Make sure you measure several times so the cooler is centered on the crash bar correctly - if not you really will struggle with fitment. I think that maybe a fraction off center towards the nearside would of been perfect (talking only 10-20mm). I also needed several washers to fill the space between bolt, FMIC and crash bar.

I am currently replacing my couplers with ones from Forge and sourcing someone to TIG the take offs (occassionaly under heavy load they pop off).

EDIT:
...also I had to tap out one of the MAP sensor bolt holes.
...use some sort of lube so you don't damage the green silicon washer on the MAP sensor as it is a tight fit.
...the bolts off the clamps for the original intercooler pipework fit the MAP sensor bolt holes perfectly.

Hi twenny, do you have the details of your install pipework, bends, and core that you purchased?????

Yours looks a tidy intstall worthy of the particular minority like ourselves, andy and alike have a very brash wack in on n rag it attitude which is simply propostuous! lol

For the rest a you bitches lol yeah i did vow not to get it but id like to go about fitting a custom fmic not necasarally the toyosport one but will most likely buy that kit for the core and pipework and adapt it to fit better, or buy a bigger core and use the pipework not sure yet, id like to see a guy with a facelift cupra thats fitted one with little hassle and managed to retain the look of the front bumper and not chopped it up pyro style.

Very keen to see your install twenny, interested in the pipework you used if you could wack up some pics???

Andys car is not faster i was just in the wrong gear hes just mad that my car sounds better than his lol :p

Ya know what Adam, I do believe your right!! HAHAHA

I simply told him that the money he saves between the Toyo and Forge he can get another hooker, hence his rash decision! :cartman:

Yeah Yeah Laugh it up boys, your right i did slag it but ive sniffed it out and im turning towards it theres a billion universal intercooler cores out there cheap that will work i just cant justify 600 queen heads when i could spend 200, the price is likely to rise anyhow by the time ive powdercoated the pipework and made it worthy of my engine bay.

Oh Andy, ive booked that guy to come round and clean your engine bay, hes a chimney sweep!!!!!!!! alright sooty were's sweep lol

its this kinda **** that i mean you cant knock the forge in this department, but we are talking over £400 saving?????????????? im actually really confused what to go for every tuning specialist like Awesome, Vagtech, The Phirm, JKM..... They all say get forge get forge guy at awesome said yeah i know its cheap but the problems you face just make you wish youd gone for forge and you can keep your fog lights!:confused:

Lol Jimmy, your a FUNNY man.................... NOT! :p My engine bays not that dirty, its used & just cuz I dont spend, no joke guys, 4 hours cleaning JUST the engine bay!! & he wonders why hes single! EUGH!

I think by the time its been powdercoated in Lambo orange its not gona be worth a penny mate - sorry, just your the only one special enough for that one! :D

& I havent heard yours yet - but I bet it sounds all gash and chavvy now! its all about the deep rumble which opens up and sings at revs! :D

... its not really a £400 quid saving though. Forge give SCN a 10% discount and then you have to take into account the extra cost of new joiners etc.

The advantage the Toyosport kit has over other kits of (i.e. unversal eBay) is that the pipes are beaded (except for the take offs) so the only real weak points are the couplers, clamps and loosing the fogs (never used them anyway).

It's been years since I've carried tools in my car - but since fitting the Toyosports FMIC I carry a 10mm spanner and jubilee clip tool in the boot. Until I've sorted and tested the boost leaks I will not drive hard.

I think that some people also confuse a boost leak for increased turbo spool.

The specialists are all right - pay more for less hassel.

Alright mate ,

Fogs wise
have a look in my readers ride thread bud , theres a link to the intercooler , i purchesed 2 45 degree 63mm id silicone bends ,and cut an inch of the bends at the ic end on each side , and swiveled the bends so they sit down and back slightly , i then linked to an alloy 90 cut down ,then map pipe (trimmed ) ( Where old smic was ) linked by 90 silicone to 45 alloy then TB ,

lots off messing and fogs are very tight and secured by 1 of the original screws, but there still on and work .so i aint to fussed you can't tell and they dont move at all so im happy , oh and i diyed a pipe swager for the beads on the pipes out of molegrips and an exhaust clamp ,works a treat to .

when i upgrade the other few clamps ill get some more pics up ,of how iv done it , i tryed to have as smooth a route as possible , had to trim the battery box corner and a couple of other plastic trims for my route but worth it in my oppinion

hope this helps mate
