K&N over Jetex......

K&N 57i is a good filter - used it for years until current ram air.

a red jetex........... I was gona get a yellow one personally!!! LOL!
 
Yeah i thought about the red jetex but their only rated to 250bhp which is pointless, id have to change it after xmas.
 
I spoke to Jetex and they don't recommend anything other than the Blue filters for the LC's and LCR's.

I really wanted red, I even made one of these threads myself asking if I could change the colour of the jetex but it's not recommended.

My bad is red/black but I've got a blue jetex now. See my readers ride. It's awesome and the best flowing filter out there. The noise is incredible.
 
search for "apexi" in the mk1 LCR section, they do red filters and they come recommended by those who run them. I may go down that route once my wallet has recovered from Christmas.

red, dry filter (unlike K&N) built for high power jap cars, one of the best filtration levels out there (unlike the K&N) so will have no trouble on a whizzy little 1.8 :D
 
Sp apexi then! Well been on the phone to jetex, they said the reason the filters are blue is due to the oil they use, they said you can buy a filter off them, wash it until the oil comes out and re-dye the filter with what ever colour oil you wish.

its a fine cotton element tho thats the problem, your going to wash it loads which is going to degrade the cotton each time, a lot of effort just to change a perfectly good filter to another colour.

Just buy a red one to start with, and make sure its a dry type filter that doesnt need oiling.
 
Anyone got a link to the exact Apexi filter involved here?
I'm a bit of a Nubcake and I know I'll order the wrong one.
I went for Jetex last time but I'd like to try this apexi filter, sounds like a bit of a bargain.

Also when replacing the airbox on my Ibiza Cupra i had to get a smaller filter for the SAI, it was modified for me and the tube was cut, I'd like to avoid this this time round and get a filter that fits perfectly.

What have you lot chosen to remedy this?

Any helps appreciated, and I'm too high on my prescription meds to search right now :)

My bay is red and black and i have the Jetex and i dont think it looks to bad, my main problem with Apexi is (A) the price £200+ against the £50ish for the Jetex and (B) the Apexi are tiny compared to the Jetex but on price alone they are not worth it. IMHO ;)
