Ive seen it about a lot, just never got round to asking what it was!

Do you (or all?) remember in the 80's and 90', those plastic "straps" that you would attach to the rear of the car, that had to be touching the ground. Which were supposed to remove 'static' which helped prevent travel sickness for those onboard.

...dont see (m)any cars with those on any more.

I actually saw a KA the other day with those on both sides.. One on the nearside had a black square on the bottom, and the offside had a red square.. I didnt have a clue what they were, but when I saw your post just then, it could be those things..
