i would guess a 1.4 tsi... from previous post? anyways the car should lose power even when you rag it in cold start however saying that it depends on milage on the car if its low then the protection mode will kick in and go into limp if needed (happened to my previous 1.4 tsi). regardless though you should never rag the car when its stone cold its just not heathly for the engine internals ...until your temp is high enough i suggest not to rag it. but yea if you get any errors etc take to your dealers im sure they will tell you the same thing.

Ouch, looking at your other posts you have just had it remapped too, you need to be more careful

Have you ever read a manual?

I doubt many people have ragged their cars from cold (unless company cars) - so maybe a difficult one to answer.

Some mechanical sympathy should be applied for when the car is cold. :)

As Dave.C says.. I doubt it should loose power though, so worth getting it checked by the dealer :)

Well thanks to those who are sympathetic and advising me nicely!

And to those who are completely slating me, im 19, Im sure you all knew absoleutly everything about everything when you were 19! You forget your all 25+ i guess?

Well now i know, i wont do it again! Im here to learn from my mistakes!

i don't even move my car for at least 15 mins from cold start

not saying this is wrong, but i had a car years back, corolla GTi -16 and its manual said DO NOT start from cold and leave to idle, simply start up and drive in cold conditions gently. basically applying the mechanical sympathy logic...

plus if you ever let a car idle from cold, especially a tdi it will take days to get up to temp in minus deg outside temps....

AFAIK there is nothing at all wrong with starting the car and driving away straight away but drive it gently

ps, not trying to start an off topic conversation either...

I agree, standing idling for an extended period isn't really good for a car either.

be careful though, the light that comes on the dash will log an error code, from that the dealers can use diagnostic equipment and see exactly what revs/speed/oil temp/coolant temp and even time/date of the error, then tell you that it's not covered under warranty due to misuse or abuse and put an electronic note against your car for future reference.

Take it very easy when it's cold and take it easy when it's warmed up too. Being 19 you are at very high risk of an insurance claim due to the fact that QUOTE *you don't know everything about everything* QUOTE

Thanks for the advice Nathan, well it's not caused any damage yet, so i think im lucky in that respect....

Didnt know about it logging an error code, dont think it would matter anywayz, me and the owner of the dealership are practically related haha!
