Is there anything you can do on an LCR thats free and get you more BHP or make it quicker?

Lose weight.

strip interior, rear seats, spare wheel, run with £10 fuel at any time, tape up the door shuts, and any panel gaps, remove aerial, stereo, speakers, rear wiper, drill internal panels, depends how extreme you fancy being.

Apart from smoothing and/or drilling the airbox everything else costs. Losing weight won't increase your BHP but will mean your BHP/ton will be better so things like acceleration and fuel economy will increase. Top speed will remain the same or slightly less strangely!?

only thing i can give is where you see the unleaded pump. Use the other one, marked 'super'. For a few extra pence is well worth it.

technicaly nothing is free, smoothing airbox = sanding stuff' N245 Bypass = Hosing' DIY Short shift = Bolts etc'

there is one as long as you own 2 10mm spanners...
the actuator nut... tighten it a little, only 1/4 - 1/2 a turn though!
that is free, as long as you have spanners.
drilling the air box, as long as you have a drill - note (not that i think your stupid but seen it done on a pug) DONT DRILL THE TOP OF THE BOX and use good size holes not pepperpot it with 10mm ones, looks stupid if any one see's it that is.
clean the plugs up if you have a little bit of sand paper its free (wont give more power but might feel better)

cheap mods for the lcr say under £20 -
n249 bypass, £5...depending on how you want to do it
smooth the air box £2...and lots of time
N75f upgrade to a J or a H - used at a breakers can be found from £15 but dont se many audi S2, S4 and RS4's in scrapyards
DIY short shift kit - no more than £3 if you have a drill and socket set already
catch can - check ebay for them i got a factory 2nd catchcan for 20 quid a while ago, wont make it any fast but gets all the shat out.
dog bone mount - £15-£20

keep an eye out in the for sale section as there are some bargins to be had, TIP's from £40, air filters, exhausts ppl just wanting rid
iv just managed to get a used tip, new coilovers, used neuspeed filter, and a set of new oem coilpacks and paid a little over £220 for all of it (not all from here)
also iv manged to get in the past F and R strut braces for about £20 my forge 007 on my old cupra cost me £10, i was given a yellow spring for my current 007 for free even my miltek was cheap at 200 for a used (for 2month) cat back system (got lucky with this though as it wasnt for sale and it started of as just a back box lol)
you just need to spend the time looking...

to prevent heat soak remove the under bonnet carpet (sound proofing)

that will stop increased hot temperatures should make everything run abit cooler
