phil, believe me there is nobody out there that would rather have this baby up and running more than me, its just got to the point where enough is enough, my money is tied up in property now so my hands are tied as such, things happen for a reason and this time its to end it im affraid.

as with all the ibiza's the arches needed attention ect so the shell isint exactly a minter,

as some of the older members on here know, ive had quite an eventfull ownership with this one, done a huge trip to collect it, not long after owning it had the crank go the first time, £2000 pound later im rocking a sweet rare topaz blue ibiza again,

then bam, royal mail drives into it, goes away for bodywork repair, get a phone call to say the car has been wrote off with damage, which was a scraped bumper and wing! ? next inline was to the owner saying that a member of staff is willing to buy the car for an extra £100 on scrap value! you can fook right off.. had then the issue of getting it back, finally got it, and they tried to charge £360 for the pleasure! fook off!

had car back sorted work out, and then bam, girlfriends sister drove into the other wing and bumper! thanks for that!

and now the crank again!

depends what's happened and wether cause was design fault or not

this is it, they want to inspect it all using the xray machines they use for aircraft motors, but that will cost me? plus £40 an hour inspection charge, let alone me getting the engine out before hand... aint going to happen :(

Its a shame to hear the outcome Sam. :(. I have to agree with Suj this was one of my favourites and possibly best mk2 on the forum. Mine will never look as good as yours did. :(.

What sort of rare parts etc do you have? Im thinking if theres anything from a valver that would look good in/on my 1.4

Well if you are going down the sad route of stripping it why not remove the sump get the crank out have it tested and if it's "ok" go back to the garage give them a big "f@ck you" it's your fault now sort it out!

thats what will happen, il strip and sell everything i can., get the sump out and get crank inspected and also oil pump.. if a fault is found, someone my get hit with a lumpy stick,

if i do get them to cough up id either want some dosh back, or get them to redo the bottom end and anything else that has suffered, then il sell the block again, or stick it in caddy :)

Well if your gonna strip, may as well strip the bottom of the engine off first, that way if its no a crank problemn you get your car put right for nowt.

If it is a knakcered crank you've only lost a coupe of hours and can strip the whole car.

Even though its sad i understand why you'd want to break, my cordy 16v cost me thousands in repairs but i couldnt bear to break it so i fixed it and sold on. Might of been a daft decision now financially, but i know she's still out there!!

Sorry to hear this, Sam :(

It'd be a shame to break it, but I guess you'd get more £££'s for it that way. From experience, you always get left with stuff when you break cars. I still have bits in the shed from when I split my 8v and the 20vt over 4 years ago, and I chucked a 2.0 8v engine as no-one wanted it!

the crank will come out to be checked, but its not as easy as just to get them to do it for nothing, its going to be a battle to get it sorted, if they do make a choice in my favor, il havd a sweet motor to sell on or stick in caddy. Lol
