I've been keeping an eye on the prices of MK5s for the past month or two as I want to buy one, the figures OP quotes sound about right. The diesels and tsi petrols seem to hold onto value better.

You might get a bit more privately but it would take a lot longer to sell and require lots of effort and putting up with time wasters.

Yep. Theres no point me getting rid of what is really the perfect car for me. its like new too!
