I have recently ordered my first Seat and have been lurking here for a few weeks, listening and learning!

I have ordered a Seat Ibiza 5dr 1.4 16v Sport, candy white, 17" alloys, leather seats, panoramic sun roof, climate control, bi xenon and bluetooth. I have an estimated delivery date of 31st March and time is passing very slowly!

I'm hoping that i've made a good choice with this car and can't wait to see it in the flesh...does anyone have any advice on things to look out for when I pick it up? Also, having never bought a new car before, do you still have to run it in? If so, then for how long and does it mean i have to drive around for two months at 30mph?

My dealer has offered me Auto Glym Life Shine as an extra, anyone had this? Is it as good as they say?

Thanks.

Welcome firstly mate.

Sounds like you've got a nice Ibiza coming, some really good options there! When I picked mine up I took this with me to help, I ran mine in for 1000 miles, just need to take it easy for a little while to help it bed in.

I didn't take the life shine as all they do is use Auto Glym products on your car then give you the set, I have loads more bits that I use and can do just as good a job. Up to the individual really.

Welcome pal!

I got the autoglym pack (or something similar).

It does work, much easier to clean than my previous cars as dirt doesnt stick.

The pack you get with it also contains some handy things such as alloy cleaner and protector :)

Thanks SC16v for the quick response! The checklist is great and i will take it along with me. Odd but i feel pretty nervous about the pickup because i don't want to miss anything that could be a problem.

Regarding the Life Shine, I thought the same and will probably not go for it.

Hi James

That's a nice car you got coming. The new Ibiza is a fantastic looking car.

I took delivery of my new Leon FR 4 weeks ago and was told by the dealer to just take it easy for the first 1000 miles. It ain't stopped me giving it a bit of welly though lol. You don't even need to take it back for any early oil service neither.
I never took the Autoglym as i've got some of their stuff in the shed already. Always used it. Brilliant stuff.

Enjoy the ride dude, you'll have no regrets me thinks.

Poloman, thanks for that. The dealers said that it would be easier to clean and dirt would not stick to it but I wondered if that might have been sales talk! They also said that the glass is treated and water and dirt run off the windows and the coating lasts for years. If it genuinely works then I guess I will have to reconsider.

Thanks for the advice.

I can't wait to get this car!

Thanks 2011Leon! I'm really glad I joined up here, i feel even more certain that i've made the right choice with my new car now...i went a bit extras mad but i just wanted the car to be perfect and i think when i see it I will be more than happy.

Not sure on the windows (i might not of got that) because my back window never seems to be clean.

Window cleaner from halfords will do the same if not better

Might as well get it exactly how you want it from the factory as you are buying new :)

Like I said, I have never had a new car and this was a big decision for me, but I was amazed at what I could get for the money in comparison to other brands that really didn't do it for me like Seat did. I nearly didn't bother looking at Seat, but a Renault sales person suggested I had a look at them! Glad I took his advice!

I was exactly the same mate, Seat was the best price for what I got and I'm happy with it :)

Like you James i feel in good company here. I've been watching this site since i ordered mine back in October. Oh the wait was horrble. Some guys on here have done wonders with their cars and the imagination runs wild when you see some of this. I've got my front grille here in the dining room tonight already painted Black Magic to match the car. The badge is also painted ready to go back on tomorrow.

I can see this is going to become an addiction! My wife will be thrilled.

Congratulations on your first new car!

I got a new Ibiza in Sept 2010 and have done quite a few cosmetic mods. Mainly on the interior.

My first mod was to change the front grille to a FR honeycombe grille. I ordered the FR grille a week before I collected my new Ibiza and changed it as soon as I got home! Hehe! Believe it or not, but I kinda think that if I could not have changed the front grille, I might not have got an Ibiza! I hate the factory standard grille! Should have the honeycombe grille as standard in my opinion.

I absolutely adore my Ibiza. Not a single problem thus far. It is a great looking car, especially with the 17in alloys. It gets lots of looks from people, especially as I keep it immaculate. I am a bit OCD about cleaning it as I love it so much!

One important word of advice. I think many people have slipped up on this the first time they clean it. Do not go to lift the front wipers off the windscreen when they are in the rest position at the bottom! The wiper on the right will catch the edge of the bonnet and take the paint off. You have to turn your key in the ignition till the dashboard lights come on, take the key out, then pull down the wiper stalk. This will set the wipers in a position so it is safe to lift them off the windscreen.

Welcome & Congrats!

Thats strange because the car i looked at before the Seat was a Renault Twingo lol, i would have got hardly ANY other options if i had bought that for the same price as the ibiza. Thought i'd check out the seat website and i just thought WOW! Thats what i want, test drove one and loved it even more.

Its a good thing you've been on here before you got it, i wasn't on here i don't think but nobody told me about running it in beforehand and neither did the dealers. Which still kinda annoys me, if its a first brand new car the dealers really should say something.

White car sounds very nice though ;) not seen one with the leather seats yet!

I always do plenty of research before making a purchase...pretty boring but it helps me be sure about my choice.

It always had to be white, what do you think about the leather seats? I just thought it would add to the whole look and i like the fact they're heated.
