Yeah I've had enough even though I do still really enjoy the car.
I know a few people on here say it's a sluggish/slow car but I think it's fine for everyday use! I just want more power haha
But, after reading the mpg figures from the 1.6 tdi users on here I'm very tempted, I'd only have to fill up once a month!

I've been paying monthly for my service so won't need to pay anything tomorrow other than parts if needed!

Have to say, considering I have the antiquated 1.4 16v engine (according to some people on here) it's easily a better(more economical especially) than the Clio 1.2 16v it replaced. Ok, it's not a TSi engine, or a diesel, but, like Char, I find it quite acceptable.

Only thing that puts me of the 1.6 engine is it seems you need to be doing long journeys to get the really high mpg, I only work 4 miles away from home and the furthest I probably drive is 20 miles or so to Manchester and that isn't every week! Don't think I'd benefit what the engine can actually do!
if you're taking it "normally" and it's fairly flat then that 4mile journey will probably be around 45mpg, i can get around that pootling round sheffield with all its hills. admittedly not the 60/70 you'd get on a motorway run but don't know how that compares to your 1.4
What about the filter that gets the emissions down? If you don't put the miles in at higher speeds, you'll be replacing it every 5000 miles, and the costs involved.
My 1.4 16v averages 43+ at the moment, mixed driving, and 48+ on the motorway @75(ish)

ha, tbf, it's only recently that my average over a tank has risen from around 36/37 to low 40's.
If you're not regularly doing long journeys get the fr tsi and remap it. as mardon (iirc?) showed you can get decent economy if you're sensible and you'll not have the dpf issues you will town driving the 1.6tdi all the time.
you'll not be replacing the filter (i've done 18k so far), but you'll be having to proper regen runs at least once a month.

What rji says is correct, I wouldn't buy a diesel if its doing such low mileage.
But yours is the EU5 model isn't it? By that I mean the slightly revised 1.4 with 139g/ km co2 emissions rather than the original 149g/ km co2 emissions model. Mine (the latter) will do mid 30s town and mid 40s motorway if driven sensibly.

Looks like the tsi fr is the one for me.
The whole mpg thing doesn't really worry me as my journeys are generally short!
