Fitting a Pioneer f910bt

a bit more than that but i found it easy enough without removing parcel shelf or the quarter panels.

i gave some tips earlier to someone else in a pm.

Just remove the weather strip from the rear tail gate down to about half way.

you will then see the edge of the headliner. there are two black clips that hold the headliner on to the roof about half way from center of the roof to edge of the sides.

pull down gently on the headliner to have a look at the clips. you only need two flat screw drivers on either side of the clips, to allow the clips to be released out of the wholes.

once these have been released you can pull down the headliner enough to look at the antenna base and the nut. its a 22mm nut. I used a ring spanner to loosen mine.

now the hardest bit is the cable. it is held in place by two plastic C clips that are at the back of the roof and hidden in direct view. use a small mirror like the wife's compact mirror for her makeup to see where it is. these C clips i couldn't remove but managed to prise out the cable with a small screw driver. then pull the connection apart and then remove antenna.

put the new one in and your done.

PS. take the old one apart you'll see it is all corroded.

Hope that helps.

yeah it should connect on, that a FAKRA connector on the end. the only thing is dont know is if the antenna base has the same type of pcb board thats powered by the amplified head unit.

well thats a question to ask the seller before i buy it ! cause decent radio is handy if not most important

yeah please let us know how you get on. I'm going to upgrade my front speakers sometime this week. have ordered the AUTOLEADS-SAK-3103 adaptors and a pair of Infinity KAPPA 652.9i speakers.

I'm hoping these will be better than the standard ones, the lack the mid tones though bass is not that bad for a door speaker. ETKA shows my Altea as having "BASS" speaker in front doors and normal speakers in back. The KAPPAs though have good Frequency Range. 45Hz-25Khz

I'll let you know how i get on.

i have the rings ready to go i am thinking focals with a tweeter in the front ( running off the amp at some point ) & mid range focals in the back doors with a crossover but no tweet so it doesnt draw the sound back , but gives more midrange , both to start with on the alpine head unit which i still havnt bought !

Speakers

I would go for the focals . I have them in my Stylance and they are AWESOME . the are fitted with MDF rings and not the plastic ones of ebay . These were fitted by the guy where I bought the speakers from and he had the rings knocked up in no time and the speakers fitted not long after . The only problem was in the rear doors where the 165mm were fowling on part of the metal of the door structure , the solution was to fit the next size down . The focal speakers were the highest speck without getting components , can't remember the model no though . If you are interested I can look this out for you . The head unit is a pioneer AVH3200BT , a nice piece of kit . Next is the amp and sub when finances allow but unsure of make and speck , open to suggestions . Hope this of interest you guys , that's what it's all about on here getting advice and ideas and seeing what other people are doing .:)

hi bazmac yep thanks for that , bit of progress here headunit is sorted i think its a kenwood double din i am getting of a mate who is changing cars , should have it next week ,

i have a set of focal components & chatting to a friend who runs a car hifi shop yesterday he said to stick the tweeters in the A pillar and disconnect the original tweet this would really move the sound stage up in the car

amp wise i am going for a genesis profile 4 ultra as it fits under the back seat & as unfortunately as genesis are no longer trading their amps are being sold off by the shops cheap so a bargain to be had

sub wise i saw a shallow depth pioneer 12 yesterday that would fit in a box under the false boot floor

so thats the plan just got to do it now pix as i go along no doubt
