Civics are for kids. My derv has them for an afternoon snack, Integra, you can have that one, she's not quite there yet but we'll see what awesome gti can do with the old girl in a couple of weeks time! If Hondas are so good why are you on here!?

do your research before you buy. My 04 LCR had one owner, a 55yr old man in his mid life crisis. Car 100% oem. Needless to say, I bought it ;)

my mates mum had a civic for 6 years, never had it serviced, and when she came to sell it she was surprised to learn she should have checked the oil...

Hi All,

Thanks for the replies. I did not mean for this thread to turn into a comparison of cars performance. They are different cars.Diesel turbo vs petrol naturally aspirated.

I will say though! I have owned both and will say that if "leontdi130" (presume this is your model of car) if you can spank ctrs and I am no where near them in my 150 then you have spent a lot on modifications! If your car handles like its on rails then you need to drive a CTR!
But having said this I love the Leon I wanted economy, cruisability and like someone else said no crazy reving......

as for the post I was licking my wounds of having a large bill to foot as my research (I joined this site before I bought the car. saw 5 or so cars before settling and test drove it - There was no engine management light on, nor noise from the wheel bearing nor turbo noise all paperwork is in order etc etc)

to conclude, both forums I have joined in the past Honda and Seat are great. I have found some great info on here to help sort my issue.

Thanks peeps

Jon

I have spent a few quid on my car. And the leon as a standard car used to handle like a jelly when i first got it unlike a ctr.
I hope your leons sorted now and wont cause you any more problems!

Sounds like bad luck.

Sure you will get fault codes at some point, but these are usually cheap to fix.

Dodgey turbo is unlucky and usually down to a previous owner not warming it up and cooling it down properly to sustain it's lifespan!

Never boot it from the off and if you rag it let it cool down before you put it to bed. Simples.

i'll more likely be selling my TDI 130 soon but can honestly see it's been the best car i've ever had in terms of reliability economy and performance. Since last year 've had a problem with my knee and suspect that the slightly heavy clutch on my car isn't helping things .I dont want to fork out £900 for a new clutch and dmf and then find i stil have the issue so am looking for an auto car.I'll be apsolutely chocked when i see someone else driving it away when it goes...

Funny you should say that.... I have developed a bad back recently and now I'm finding the clutch hard work (heavy). I think it is a feature of the leon to be honest, they all have heavy clutches.

I'm selling mine for that reason, going to get an auto and a bigger car in general (as I'm tall and I need more leg room & supportive seats now my back is fooked)

Overall it has been the best car I have ever owned... had it for just over a year which is a long time for me, as I normally buy sub 1k cars and change them every few months!!

I think the OP has been unlucky and bought a bad one. One thing I will say though, is from the day I bought mine I felt the MPG was disappointing, however after the intercooler let go and was replaced, my MPG shot up nearly 20% and the car had even more poke!

So for anybody getting poor MPG - it could be that there is an underlying or slow developing fault that has gone undetected. (air/boost leak etc).
