Pirelli p zero rosso and road noise

Hi guys

I've currently got a set of these on my cupra from factory!
I seem to hear loads of random noise from them from inside the car is this normal?
Sounds like the wheels arnt balanced that sort of sound and then it disappears when you change from tarmac surface!

Any ideas???

They are noisy on anything but a supersmooth surface. Changed mine for some Contisport 3's which are a smidge quieter and give a better ride. The Contis have better grip in the wet but not as good in the dry (going by the traction control light flashing at me!).

Amazing tyres in my opinion! I have had them on my mk1 cupra r and now have them on back on my k1 (waiting for my fronts to wear down). They are abit noisy but I think they handle amazing in wet and dry!

I would defo recommend them to anyone!!

Obv everyone will have different opinions of each and every tyre

I'm thinking of replacing them with the same next month when two wear out even though the road noise is ****!

Yeah sorry p zero rossos. The road noise isn't that bad! In changes in road surface. Smooth no road.. Quiet as anything.. Ruff crap road.. Bit noisy! But they make up for it for me when I'm going around a corner in the rain or in the dry.. They don't move!

My dad has them on his Audi TTS aswel and it goes around corners like a train.. Even tho it is 4wd and better stance.

Defo recommend them! But like I said.. Everyone will have different experiences with different makes of tyre!

I do agree with you just the noise my dad also has pirelli p zeros on his Morgan aero 8 so there on just about everything fast!

I was looking at the my TYRES site at the tests and pirelli do a p zero rosso asymmetrical!
Better in all tests.......

Yeah a good tyre! Can't wait to bold my dunlops off ready for the wet and cold weather! A nice set of p zeros all round will see me through

Have had Bridgestone RE050A's on both my 17" and 18" wheel shod FR's and they seem to kick up less road noise than the Pirelli shod FR I test drove. Great in the dry but not so good in bad/cold weather.

Same tyre has just been fitted to the special Edition Renault Megane Renaultsport 265 Trophy apparently they improve it's performance/grip doubt the truth in that though. They are good tyres but not any better than other top tyres.

Just upgraded to Toyo R1R's which are supposed to be a noisy tyre and they are actually quieter than the Bridgestones.

The Goodyear F1 Assymetric is as good as any other tyre i have tried and is much quieter than other top brand tyres. The F1 Assymetric 2's are new out so should be an even better tyre.

Also most of the cabin noise from the tyres seems to come from the back end to me.

How many miles has your Cupra done Gazhill81? The rears can wear unevenly on the back from th camber settings

I found the treadwear rate to be real bad on the p-zero's (220 I think), other than that they were a great tyre, saying that the hankook v12 evo's I've had for 14 months/10k have been better!

Treadwear 220 is not too bad for a performance tyre . . . . . the bridgestone RE050A's are only Treadwear 140 and wear pretty fast.

How are you finding the Hankooks for performance compared to the p-zero's? . . . . . Any good??
Just sold a pair of Hankook road legal semi-slicks that were treadwear 50 !!

I personally would fit the hankooks before spending £30-40 more on each p-zero. For £100 a corner fitted locally, I'll be putting two more on the fronts in the next month or so, I've noticed on blackcircles and camskill these tyres have increased in price quite a lot.

If anyone got an ATS near them.. I paid 118 a corner. That's a bargain for them.

The tyre wear on mine are really good. It took me ages to go thru them on my LCR.

Have got P-zero rosso's on, fronts lasted 13k , had two new ones fitted at Bannings in Brum £120 each. they are noisy on certain surfaces although can't grumble at the performance!

+1, had Bridgestone RE050A's on my Focus ST and they were very noisy. My FR has Pirelli P Zero's and they are just a noisy. The best tyre I've tried is the Goodyear F1 Assymetric's, great wet and dry and MUCH quieter than the above. I'll be getting Assymetric 2's come replacement time.

I've just had the fronts of my FR changed to F1 Assymetric 2's and the car does seem a bit quieter but like jon-tfsi said above, most noise appears to come from the back.
Grip with the F1's is excellent so far.

I dont think they are around any more but the GSD3's I had to replae the pzeros on my old LCR were so much better, better grip in wet and dry, lower noise so might be worth looking at their replacement.

I have exactly the same noise mate, Almost sounds like a work wheen bearing, They seem to get worse as they wear
