Speakers all fitted last night, all good, brackets and adaptor was correct parts. So for all you looking to uprate then those are the items to buy NOT THE MK3 ONES WITH THREE MOUNTING HOLES!

Also if your looking for bass don't buy the vibe slick 60's cause i have found out the hard way. Lol

Some great info in this thread. The speakers in my Sport are blown so am looking to change/upgrade. :funk:

Will have to wait until after the baby is born though:doh:

You'll struggle to get any decent bass out of the front speakers with the plastic mounts. You need to make it air tight so there's no gaps between the speaker, the mount and the inner door metal piece. You'll also need some sound deadening behind the speakers to stop the door flexing, and amping them up will help too.

Nothing wrong with the speakers :)

Lol yea but they are alot tinnier than the standards??

The standard speakers are literally paper thin. The cones are made from really light, thin material so it takes very little power to get them moving, whereas your new speakers are built a bit better, with heavier cones etc, more mass to move and so require more power to get them moving in the same fashion as standard speakers. :)

Cheers mate, I understand about RMS and that but I'm unsure what I can go to on the standard headunit and system? That bit I don't understand, are they plug and play or do I need adapters? Does anyone know the max mounting depth on the mk4?

Yea you need the plug adaptors and also mounting brackets in the main post. Three links, and of which two are the parts you need. The adaptors you need are the round ones with FOUR holes in and NOT the odd shape with three holes in.
