I'm looking at installing the power cable in my ibiza, I've installed subs and amps before but used seperate wires for everything.

I was wondering if it would be better running one thick 3000w 4 gauge wire instead of 2 independant power wires. the power for both combined is less then 3000w

If anyone can recommend a good wiring set, from experience, looking at 50-70 quid.
i've seen this one on ebay VIBE 3000W

Many thanks.

Just use a single 4 gauge power cable and then if you have more than one amp in the boot, use a distribution block.

Make sure the earth cable is bolted to a really good clean piece of the chassis.

Also, upgrade the alternator to battery cable with the same 4 gauge power cable.

Do you need a kit (includes the RCA cables, earth cable, fuse and connectors) or just the power cable?

Thanks for the reply Alex,

I have some RCA cables so it's not major if i get them. I would need the other items otherwise i would goto maplins and get a reel of power cable.

thanks on the alternator tip.

Are you going to be running 2 amps? or perhaps a 4 chan amp for fronts and maybe 2 chans bridged for the sub? If so, you'll need 2 sets of RCA's anyway, so it might be best to buy a kit. Sometimes if you are careful with your routing of the main power cable, there is often enough left over to do the alternator to battery run as i said.

Also, find out what fuses are in the amplifiers you intend to run (they will have little blade fuses in the amp heatsink generally, and then add these fuses together. The fuse under the bonnet should ideally match this figure. :)

It's two seperate amps, one for the sub and one for the rear speakers amp, will be installed later. i will make sure the fuse is the two figures combined.

I'll pick up a kit prob. Just gotta find a nice weekend to ticker with the car.

Many thanks for your help btw Alex.

no probs :)
Ok, do you absolutely have to have the rear speakers amped? ideally you want the fronts amped, and the rears, unless you have passengers a lot, really don't even need to be there.
