Don't get me wrong I'm not in favour of one or the other at the moment. I may decide to get a Cupra and mod. But both marques can be had for similar money and similar mods done. Cupra's, ST's etc..

I agree about the RS holding it's value but then again we could argue all day and say let's get an Evo X or Scooby etc.. I wouldn't like to own one because I'd rather have a subtle performance car without the worry/running costs of the above. Granted it may not be as powerfull but then as cupra_ahhh has pointed out you can find a big turbo or supercharged version of most cars within that budget.

Fair doos mate, bets of luck whatever you decide to do :)

Good Luck with your sale also :). Nice spec and price. Pitty it wasn't Track Grey or Speed Blue. I may have been interested. Wrap?

Without sounding biased, I have yet to see a Focus ST that can run the 1/4 mile in 12 seconds and achieve over 115mph at the end of the run. I would be very interested and happy to be proved wrong and the spec of the car that did it :)

i think if you bought an ST you would always be thinking i should have got the RS.
anyway the only person who can decided that is you.

personally i would prefer the RS to an ST , but having said that there are a few equally impressive cars around.
im sort of in the same dilems as you , i have about £22k to spend on my next car and i havent been able to experience the modded world because of all the issues i have had , so i really want to get that out of my system lol.
i am tempted to wait for the new toyota coupe especially if it comes with the impreza engine which its rumoured to have.
trouble is the leaon ticks all the boxes on equipment , looks , modding potential and practicality so finding a replacement which does all of the above without spending stupid money is going to be hard.

If I was gonna wrap a car it would be in the same colour as one of the guys on VAGOC did his TTRS, frozen grey with a matte finish mmmmmmm

The ST is a great car, but its always gonna live in the RS's shaddow.

The Leon Mk 2 cupra on the other hand is pretty much at the top of its game. OK, so you have the cupra R but most folk would struggle to tell the difference at 50 paces. Also, from what I understand, the cupra R's engine is only really as tuneable as the standard cupras. The ST/RS engines differ far more than a tweaked map.

I think the key is to have a propper test drive what ever car your thinking about buying. Yes running costs/performance/depreciation all play a major part in choosing what car your gonna buy, but at the end of the day, its about the ownership experience and how it makes you feel when you turn the key (or press the starter button LOL!).

On that note, like ive said before, im always more than willing to take anyone out for a spin in mine if you happen to be local to the west of Scotland.

Got the deal done today to get into a Focus RS, lost over 4k on the cupra in just over two years, someone will definately get a sorted motor though.

Just shows how difficult it is to replace a cupra, definately the best motor I've owned!:)

Very nice bud I really want 1 but my m8 has 1 and say he doesn't want to get 1 so he can be the only 1 with a RS :censored:[:@]

My cupra has been a great car, never let me down, pound for pound it can't be beaten, but I reckon the RS is another level again, it just feels like it's something different, and it's really well put together (you'll want one with all the options though). The seats alone set it apart, although some things in the cupra are better, the pedals and the steering wheel in my opinion are better quality, but the RS will be a beast with a bit of fettling. Stage one cupra is quicker but the RS drives and handles really, really well. Hope it's the right decision!!

what toys did you get with your focus mate?
i really think the blue sided seats are gash and much better in dark grey

Yeah the grey seats are the dynamica leather/alacantra option, quite a lot of the 1st owners ticked this option as the blue or green fabric to match the paint was terrible. As for the other toys everything was an option even climate control, theres two packs called lux 1&2, you'll want both of these really and even then usb and bluetooth were an option, these options including seats, paint (white was free), lux packs 1&2 inc satnav, climate, keyless entry, auto lights/wipers, reverse sensors and camera, tyre deflation system cost in total £3500 - £4000!!

Yeh mite have too sooner or later really want a green 1 with black alloy's and the vent's sprayed blacked then a milteck exhaust system de-cat of course:p but with the black exhaust tip option

I like the green, when the light hits the pearlescent paint it looks:drool: But I plan on keeping this one, and I reckon it'll be easier to live with than the green then eventually getting a more 'normal' car to run around in, maybe even an oil burner!

Well done fella. You made the right decision!

And in the second best colour as well LOL! I do love the blue, and sometimes wish I had it as the green shows up everything.

Now all you need is a couple of grand for tuning and you'll be in the 400 bhp club!

Steer clear of superchips for anything except stage 1. JWR Autotech is widely regarded as the best tuning route for smoothness and big bhp/torque figures.

Cheers mate, picked her up yesterday, and sad to see the cupra go but its logical progression! The sound when you open the taps is awesome and I'm getting the same mpg as the cupra almost. I'm thinking JWR but REVO are getting in on the FRS mk2's as well.
