They'll only tell you to sod off if your car isn't on the list. You can only ask, they can only say no...
Rang seat today as coil packs 3+4 went the other day they took my shassis num and he said mine is up for recall

wouldnt an Xreg leon have bolt down coils so the recal does not apply?
fecking terrible slow action in my opinion. many many of us with seats have already paid out to replace faulty coil packs over the last few years and so many many of the faily coil packs have been and gone saving the VAG group millions in sure.
It is my opinion, but seat should have been recalling a long time ago, i wonder if they have been lent on to do this,

hmm now mines an 03 i wonder if they will do mine if i give them the chassis number

So I called Seat this morning and turns out my car is on the list so taking it over next saturday for new coilpack for free. they said I will take an hour or so.? So I don't know what else they are gonna be looking at as I could change them in 5 minutes.!!

So I called Seat this morning and turns out my car is on the list so taking it over next saturday for new coilpack for free.
5 mins including booking you in, a mechanic to be free,
to move car into the garage,
check the coil pack info and record them,
change 1 and 2.. then remove the DV solonoid thingy..
Replace 3 and 4.
check operation (you dont want them the change them and not check they are working do you..)
replace DV solonoid engine cover etc.
drive car out of garage and park it up.
go and inform reception.
reception/service desk to organise paperwork and get it signed from you etc..
hand over keys..
Not really a 5 min job to be fair is it although an hour is generous i agree.
Much better to under promise and over perform than to make a promise and fail..

so where do you stand if you have recently replaced your coils as they were faulty. I for one did last year, one went pop so i replaced all 4 with genuine ones from tps. does that mean i will get my money back for them? i assume they wont be affected by the recall as they are new?
there must be thousands of people who have had coil problems and had to pay themselves now vag are picking up the cost that we shouldnt have had to pay out in the first place

Do you Just have to call your local seat and ask if it effects your car could do with more coilpacks lol

Yeah dan that's what I done. Well I called the one in st albans and they said they would only change them if I have my car serviced there.! So I called the one in hatfield and they told me to bring it in.

Mines an x reg and doesn't have bolt down coil packs. When i spoke to the guy in the parts dept, i asked him to tell me what the issue was with the coil packs but he wouldn't say. I told them i'd had issues with them blowing off the top of the spark plugs affecting no1 and no2 coils and asked if they could supply bolt down coil packs but they never said what they would replace them with. I'll know more on tuesday.
