Well on motorway tonight driving to the misses... And a civic type R came up behind me and just left me for dirt :/ felt embarrassed lol so now I'm thinking of looking into getting the 16v engine so of anyone knows of one being sold for cheaps let me know lol :) I need more umppfff haha

There's not much in them at all. You're wasting your time mate, seriously. If you want a quicker car, then get one. Buy a 16v Ibiza. Your insurance will rape you on a conversion which isn't even worth doing anyway, much cheaper to buy a 16v. If you want power, and have deep pockets, look for a decent 1.8T setup. Sorry for being so blunt, but that's how it stands...

Theres enough of a difference between the 8 and 16v, but even a 16v wouldn't keep up with a CTR, seen as they have about 40hp more

I beg to differ on that one, few minor mods easily chase them..... For more mods and you leave them & other turbo'd japcrap for dust :D

As they've said you wanna chase type R's for small change its always gonna be nitrous.

But you may not have been up against a standard type R, the jap guys mod too.

Get your driving right in the 8v and it'll keep on the tail of a 16v all day long, I've had both and there's not as much in it as the figures would suggest.

i do belive its got alot to do with how you can drive! having had 1st hand experience with dave and seeing him chuck that mk2 around the bends and flat out on straights, he is very capable of keeping up with any modern stuff and shaming them.

be good to drive them both just to feel the difference in power delivery more than anything... be good in a comparison

I have to get my arse up to Trax, missed it for the past two years! We have a passenger ride in each others cars then!

Or get down to Castle Combe on Performance Car Action Day or VAG Day.

Phil you need to have a ride in it now since the bodies and the dog box! 10 times more fun! :)
