Hi,

Have got some useful advise recently on here, so I am back after more of your knowledge.

First problem was the ESP light on which looks like it needs the ABDS control unit replacing/repairing. Seat won't cover any costs as only has part service history. I will get done at a later date.

I was reading on here about the injectors so spoke to Seat and they agreed to look at them, I took to Seat Bristol Stree Motors today, they called me back and told me they would replace free. Excellent I thoughht until she then said there is an oil leak and I need a new Inler Manifold at a costs of £750 including fitting. She then said she believed the technician had said something about an arm been snapped and flappy things!!

When I drove the car in it drove fine I have neved noticed an oil leak. If there is a need for a new manifold would I have been aware when driving it?
Could they have damaged it when changing the injectors?
Is it likely I need a new manfold, will it not be feasible to repair it?

To top it off she has also told me I need new pads and discs for the front and rear, £199 and £189. I know I can get these done cheaper or get my mate to do them.

I have only had the car 4 weeks, that will teach me for buying private!!!

Yeah i was scared about buying private too mate, but thats how you get good deals, equally ripped off too!

One way to look at it, buying from Seat direct would have cost you most likely the extra your going to have to pay now instead! haha! :(

Yeh very true mate, just hoping that it doesn't need a new manifold and that its either just the discs or oads and not both!

They are probably telling you it needs new discs and pads , but they are probably just a bit low , just budget to get them done , they are easy to replace an easy diy job.

i hate using dealers , my car always comes out worse than when it went in [:@]

If it does need a inlet manifold you are better off sourcing the parts your self or even upgrading 750 for a inlet manifold. Seems a bit much ask them what is exactly wrong with the manifold why is the manifold leaking ????

that's was my thoughts. will look to do them myself, although will probably get a friend to give me a hand to make sure i do them right!

i will try and find more out when i pick it up. thanks

Just read your post about an arm being snapped and flappy things
as far as im aware there arent any falppy things inside the manifold?
sounds more like a throttle body?

and if you had an oil leak surely thats just a gasket?

just got my car back from seat with the injectors replaced. spoke to the mechanic who he believes the variable flap controller has seized and the vacuum operated controller rod has snapped. he has said that the only way to fix it is to get the inlet manifold replaced which will cost about 750 with them dived. i have found another place local that can do it for about 560!

Try and get a second hand one, but yeah i was thinking that intlets are quite thick and if they were to leak, it would be from the seals. Sounds like you have been told 2 different strories by them to me mate. Just do the job yourself mate, its pretty simple.

i was thinking that have requested a price for breakers yard. would it be ok to use a used one or would i always be worrying about it going again. dont know about doing it myself though my level is about changing bulbs and topping up oil

I have never heard of that problem before, so i if it were me i would be going towards 2nd hand, as it seems highly unlikely for that one to break too. Also, your esp light is most proberbly the abs pump, not the unit. Get a diagnostic check and see if it is "brake pressure sensor g201", if it is, then all you need is a repair kit. £180 i think and about an hour to remove and fit.

Thanks for your message. I have had it on the computer and it shows as brake pressure sensor g201. Had a few quotes for this. Will have to wait to get this done as will need to pay out for the Inlet Manifold and brakes first. Had a qoute f about £85 to fit by VW specialist in Darlington. Will try and find a used Manifold from somewhere

Hi have exactly the same thing except they are telling me its the intake flap assembly inside the manifold control arm that has broken off and pulled the seal out. Have you had yours done yet or found a second hand part?

Not had it done yet, spoken to a couple of garages an one has said that it won't do any further damage as it is and if it is driving alright his opinion was to just leave it.

I have been looking around for one from a salvage yard but no joy yet, although no one has taken it apart yet.
