Well that took a bit longer than expected - ended up making a new air intake box and also doing quite a lot of work to seal the radiator to the front of the car so as much air as possible goes through it rather than goes round it through gaps etc. Should be more efficient now and also create less drag. Took a lot more time this time to fit the air intake all close to and around the slam panel - much better.

Air intake box with slot visible at rear which directs cold air to front face of filter

Front - need to trim a bit off the front of the bonnet on the right to line it up a bit better - its always been slightly out and can get the bonnet painted at same time as new front grill. Might take the numberplate off seeing as its now off the road.

Next - finish bonnet off and get bits down the paint shop. Then new front brake hoses as need to reroute them/make them a bit longer to clear front brake ducts. Then set front tracking. Then down the rollers to see if that exhaust did anything....

Oh and side skirts - prototype 1 in production but not showing that yet :p;)

Ave it

Rob

Idea - do the whole grill section black to make the front look wider - like used on a Dodge Charger

Any photoshoppers fancy doing this to see how it looks?

That'd be some serious positive pressure if you could get it to work

I think your setup looks ace. Just paint up the headlights

Ta - thats interesting - the grill center looks right in black but I think the areas where the lights normally are need to be black as well?

Been messing with the bonnet tonight and got that right hand corner in line now - just need a bit of adjustment and avoided cutting

Custom front brake hoses ordered from Earls using their rather nifty online brake hose ordering tool

https://secure.demonweb.co.uk/earls100/earls_shop/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=188

Stainless steel ends, M10x1 female concave to fasten into the hard line, and 45 degree M10 banjo for caliper end, and a pair of new stainless banjo bolts for the calipers. Hoses in rather natty blue colour, 500mm.

Yeh. Getting there now......as soon as the hoses are on tracking can be set, and then down the rollers for some setup work before putting front floor back on - might not fit on rollers with front splitter on y'see. Trailer will arrive just after xmas too. Very exciting.

MSA licence renewal completed online. Check.

Interesting phone call this evening from a mate suggesting that the Club GTI forum was about to be closed down - anyone heard similar?

Give these feckers something to do

CSI GTI Berk said:
Following unprecedented success and internal promotions, CSI CGTI is looking for keen and willing helpers to involve themselves in the policing of all aspects of the Internetz which could affect or interest the members of Club GTI.

This could include both very positive (and not so) stories, including:

- extensive research of vehicle histories relevant to the VAG scene
- scooping Club GTI members quietly buying cars on other forums
- exposing tall dyno output stories
- observing antagonistic lurkers
- offering insightful comment on general news items
- tracking down secret agents
- finding news stories throughout the internetz

The role is limitless and offers huge scope for intelligence career progression.

This is not a vehicle technical role, though an awareness of conflicting automotive technical information could assist in your duties from time to time.

Applicants must demonstrate high, or preferably obsessive, attention to detail, an ability to shrug off being told 'to get out more' - when it is the accuser that misses the point - and a willingness to surruptitiously obtain information by hanging out anywhere in the sole cause of data gathering! An implicit understanding of libel is a pre-requisite.

This is a voluntary role, the rewards being the plaudits gained from your published work.

Applications and supporting relevant experience will be taken on this thread. Not all applicants will receive a reply
