my reader came though today and i downloaded the Torque Pro App and im soooo stoked with the outcome!! all i really wanted to know was how much it boosted to so its saved me a lot of money and now i got a fault reader too!!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Boost reading doesn't work right on my LCR either. Before I got it remapped it was showing peaks of 1.9bar. Now I've had Revo stage 1 put on the car I see peaks of 3.3bar! There's no way the turbo could generate or cope with that much boost and Vagcom logs from before the remap show a far more likely peak of 1.1 so something's wrong with the logic in Torque there.

There is a setting for boost value adjustment in the vehicle profile setting but I couldn't see that this made much difference in my case. Anyone had any luck with it?

On a WOT run, mine measured 36.9 PSI - now I don't know what the actual pressure is for a stock TDI140, but I imagine it's not that high!

I'm sure I tried making the boost ajustment value +7 and it didn't make a difference. As I say though Torque free measures ~0 on idle as Pro did before the last update so it must be something awry in the program; maybe an algorithm error for the boost calculation, I dunno...

Yeah im on the full version now, need to check the read values from vag com.

The boost reading is the one im not sure is right, the manifold pressure just says 255kpa, which is why i think its calculated boost value from MAF, which i know it can do.

It's calculated from either MAP or MAF as far as I know, though I think it's only from MAP if the ECU allows a required value to be read.

AFAIK, OBD2 is only supported on Petrols from 2001 onwards and diesels from 2004 onwards Mark. One exception to this I believe is American cars (imports over here, of course) which were compliant from 1996 onwards.

Im sure i has connected before as I used to seee what MPG the Sharan was getting but now no joy

Hmm, reading back through this thread seeing the age of some cars it is connecting to, it would seem maybe that it should be able to connect. In the Sharan's vehicle profile on Torque, you can select the Protocol to connect - try setting it to "Automatic - Thorough Protocol Scan" and see if that allows it to connect.

yes have had one about a year

tried again on trhe Sharan and it worked first time and everytime - no fault codes to read hmmm

how good is the fault code reader function?

Pretty good from my experience. No fault codes found is usually a good sign, don't look a gift horse in the mouth ;)

Glad it's not just me seeing this then. I did post on the Torque forum but got no response.

There is an option in the vehicle profile (I think, or the app settings) to use either MAF or MAP to calculate boost. Ideally MAP would be more accurate as MAF doesn't read boost it reads airflow which the app then applies a formula to in order to convert. It's the MAP setting I'm using though, which is showing way over what it should be.

Apparently Torque will soon be able to read manufacturer specific data through the OBD2 port in the same way that VAGCOM does, which for us will mean more sensors and readings available and hopefully better support for the stuff that's already there.

Ah well at least both of us having the problem means its within the app! I managed to finally update to 1.5.28 from .26 yesterday so I'll see if that has sorted it.

Just checked my settings and mine was set to read from MAF, so I'll first see if the updated has fixed things and then switch between MAF and MAP later on.

I'm not 100% certain of the stock boost figure of the PD140 though! But 36.9 sounds far too high for definite...

Ian also told me Vagcom protocols integration is a WIP - can't wait for it to be done - maybe then we'll finally get to see the ever illusive Oil Temps :D The sensor's got to be there as apparently on the 2.0TDI A3 you can get a reading on the MFD!

Latest update has messed with the boost feature again, does read in/hg at all now. Think the peak boost is about right now, need to check it.

Hmm, looking at the changelog I can't see how that could have happened! I changed mine to read from the MAP and boost peaked at 22 or so PSI when I went on a run on Tuesday. Updating now, to see if anything changes...

Peak boost is about right, ~18psi logged on vag com vs about that on torque. No vac reading tho anymore, and its set to MAP and not MAF.
