Ok I'll take that in mind. I'll speak to my cousin about coding in the immobiliser to see if he can still do it . Hopefully bar the immobiliser / milage it should be the same plug in and play

Can the immobiliser be coded using any other diagnostics? I don't have access to vag com and still not 100% on what It's all about. Because I don't wanna have to pay seat to code one in for me.? And would be great to hear if anybody else has successfully fitted a 4 dial cluster.

I'm ringing someone in Manchester at dinner see how much he wants for one off the car he's breaking :) tdi as well

After looking at the parts listing again, It appears there are different clocks for with/without ABS, and with/without trip computer, though I can't see many not having ABS. Next, as already mentioned, they can be calibrated in KM/H or MPH again can't see that being an issue in the UK, and also the lower spec clocks go to 140MPH and the others 160MPH. Some of the other differences will be cosmetic, and specific info residing in the immobiliser IC. I'm going on the assumtion that the speed sensor will be married up to the box, therefore sorting out the signal that end rather than in the instrument panel.

At the end of the day, as far as I know, this has not been attempted before, so naturally we need some of these "theories" testing, and conclusions will be built up on the relevant feedback from our guinea pigs. So anyone doing the work, please.. your feedback is essential.

I managed to fit a four gauge at the weekend. It's from the Ibiza/Cordoba !.9TDI and seems to be working okay.

Only issue noted so far is that the mileage is wrong and the immobiliser light is on. Car runs fine, so maybe the immobiliser has been bypassed already.

Awaiting a K+Can Commander to see if I can rectify those issues and hopefully will test against a Sat Nav to see if the speedo is out by much.

Keep us updated if it still works please. In process of buying an fr one

surley 18t clocks will be no use for a tdi since the pettrol clocs rev higher

Good point there!! that will be where the cosmetic differences come in. The Rev counter will be calibrated differently, and you'd lose the (FR) white background if you swapped the backing over, though that's possibly the answer to retaining correct calibration. In this case Diesel FR clocks will be the best candidate if you wanted the white backing.

Can anyone else think of some other differences?

Glow plug light ! Though I can always wait a min before starting , Dnt mind that the rev counter goes higher

Well looking at some images on the web, some Rev counters go to 6000rpm (my Cupra TDI), some to 7000rpm (possibly a NA petrol), and 1.8T FR goes to 8000rpm, so calibration will definitely be out. Pity, because underneath the overlay/backing they're probably very similar.

Some more research is needed. All input welcome

Sorry to thread revive but I've found a set of 4 dial FR TDi clocks for my 130 sport (currently has 6 dials), are they compatible or not, basically just want a definite answer?
