can you not make and fit one yourself?

that is why.

£115 for the lock and about 1/2 hour to fit?

really feel for you, Ive had to do one and about 6 weeks later the other side went as well, but this time it is dead locked.

luckily i have a few months to get it sorted as i am not due an MOT for a while.

Lock works fine it just the micro switches inside what a faulty so u dont get ya warning buzzer if u leave ya lights on and that and u dont get interior lights or puddle lights when opening the door

N/S/R door lock on my '04 Leon is sticking, sometimes it doesn't lock. I end up opening/closing it locking/unlocking the car a couple of times till it does (is there's a way of locking it from the inside - apart from central locking button?) and other times it won't unlock so I can't open the damn thing to try and sort it out. Is this just a case of getting in there and squirting WD40 of am I going to need a new lock too, MOT in 6 weeks. Advice much appreciated.

realistically you are looking at a new lock.

with the num MOT rukles this problem will become a faliure

The only problem there mate u could end up getting a lock with the same problem as it a common thing on most mkiv platform cars
golf bora leon toledo skoda all have the same lock.

Depends what age the car is the later ones are better, i picked up two for £15 from a 55 plate 36k LCR all good.:D

with the new MOT rules this problem will become a failure

Not sure how this will be a failure, as no warning lights come on.

unable to open a door from the outside is one of the changes that have been touted, dont know if it has been confirmed for this year though.

its approx £110 for the lock and book time is an hour to fit...

wouldnt bother mate as i said, its not even close to looking like it!! but IF you do, make a good mental image of how it looks before you start ripping it apart as its a mission to try put it back together!!! for the time involved in undoing the 20 or so screws and finding out you cant repair it, you may as well just buy a new lock, else you have to do the remove door lock again when you come to replace it. you'll do the same job twice!
