Hi Guys;

I purcahsed a blank flip key for my seat ibiza mk4.

Its simply just an empty shell with a battery init.

I plan to take my transcoder out of my current key and also the remote chip (central locking) and put it in my new job key however the remote chip does not look like it will fit nicley into the new fob key!
Its like the motherboard is smaller then it should be on this remote key.

a pic of the remote key is;

Can anyone help at all?

You'll need to by a remote chip from the same style key, then recode it. I don't think you'd be able to use your old remote chip, unless you managed to modify it so you can press the buttons. But for all that trouble, you might as well by another chip that fits, and keep your old key & remote for spares. ;)

Most likely you'll be able to modify the surface area of the button on the remote to match the new 2 button key, but I can't see a simple (Non-fiddly) way of doing it. :/

I've just had a quick scan on eBay, and no one seems to sell them on their own. You'll have to buy the full thing it seems. :/

I'd try and return the blank one though, and at least get your money back. ;)

i have now put the transponder in the new key and hey presto.. it starts the car but i still have the same problem on not being able to use the central locking via the buttons...

those are a bit pricey considering your not even buying a whole key.im sure there would be cheaper ones if you search around.did mine 5 years ago so cant remember the price but im sure it was much less than that.

Yeah, those will work, but I remember I got my 3 button flip key with remote with blade (Used but genuine) for £14. But if you're not bothered, then yes, the keys you linked will work. ;)

Cheers pal.

I have searched around but do not want to get a used one... (cant even find a used one)

What about the MHZ? is it 433 or 434 for the seat ibiza mk4?

I heard and read it does not actually matter and the frequency is actually 433.99 so people round it up or down.

Cheers
