DTUK CRD-T ordered!

I was a tech for 15 years and seen damage caused by turning boxes in the past.
(not saying this one will cause any damage) but from my experience the ones I saw
Changed the settings of the coolant temp sensor making the ecu think the engine is cold
Thus adding more fuel.

Well I kind of agree with above although they seem to have moved on slightly by telling lies about fuel pressure and some actually tell lies about boost pressure too.
Not saying this is the case with this box mind.
Each to there own and whatever makes them happy.

So thought as update the tread with some photos from over the weekend:

First one is the package it comes in:

It comes with all fitting instructions, chip, wiring loom, map diagrams and decals!

Wiring loom and Chip:

One section of the loom fits into the start of the common rail:

The other section of the loom fit into the boost pressure sensor located in the intake! As described in the instruction, you have to unscrew the mud guard under the engine bay. No picture as it was a little difficult to get a decent one!

I then neatly cable tied the wiring loom and slotted the chip between the air box and battery:

So, my first real thoughts of the box is WOW!

I forgot how impressive 210bhp and 440ish torque actually felt!

It was awesome in my Astra 1.9, but the power delivery is so smooth in the Leon!

Power:
Power is there when you want it, very smooth delivery! Power comes earlier and is there longer!

Torque:
Again, in any gear, even in 5th the pull is there! Not taking it away from the standard 170, but it now feels the engine and car is reaching its potential and not being held back.

Ease of fitting:
Fitting the connection to the common rail was a matter of removing the engine cover and then locating the connector! Very ease! 1 minute job!

Fitting the connection to the boost pressure sensor took about 15 minutes in all! This required dropping the mud slash cover from below the engine with 9 screws! One that was off, just a 1 minute job firing the loom!

I then routes the loom towards the battery in order to place the chip between the battery and air box. The reason why I have put it there is so that I can remove the chip and change the maps and power settings at ease!

Economy:
Again WOW! I honestly didn't think it would increase it by so much, so quickly! On a 70 mile round trip, I averaged 67.3mpg as to without the chip an average of 52.7mpg!

Gona do some more testing over the weekend and let all you derv heads know!

that sounds great. How much was it mate? And did no warning signals come up on the dashboard?

The dsg has a torque limiter on it! I was gona get the dsg but because of this reason I didn't! Increases power but torque stays at 350!

There are maps out for the DSG box to increase clamping pressure etc. Im looking at taking my PD140 past my AMD map and because MRC tuning are around the corner from me i had a nice chat with 1 of their techs and they can carry out a phase '3' map of the box to handle the extra poke that im planning.

No warning signals, no splutters, no nothing! So so happy with it! I got mine cheaper than the Internet price coz I have had two already from there with my Astra H! But I think there up for £380/390ish with online discount!

I'm sure they would consider a group buy n make them cheaper!

Yea, I got a similar response from Awesome Gti! There's a map out to increase the oil pressure in the dsg box to increase the amount of torque it can handle! But I didn't want to go down that route as it a brand new car and it would void the warrenty!

LMFAO! 390!!! you can get a p-torque remap for that, and probably a revo when on sale!

The think about a box is that you can tak it off when you want! I.e. servicing or warrenty work!

Also there are different map and different power settings to the map!

With a remap, I understand it's more personal, but it would be very difficult to tell the difference between a map and a box! I suppose it's personal preference and past experiences! But from my experiences I would sooner go with a box as its so adaptable!

Hopefully it should be fine! I mentioned it to DTUK and they have had no problems with any engine with a DPF!

I'll let you know when I have a regen! Not had one yet! Only done 1500miles so far!

Yea, I had the original CRD-2 on my Astra, then they released the CRD-T which integrated the boost pressure sensor, again on my Astra!

Had them for about a year at a time!

I think because the Chip has had so much publicity on the Astra owners network, alot preferred them to a remap because of the ease and flexibility!

Regarding the Seat Cupra Forum, because very few have had them ad publicized the fact of using them, little have faith!

I would like to see your 'real' economy, to my way of thinking this type of plug-in box sends the cars own economy figures to la-la land because it is basing it's calculations on false data.

If the real economy improves then that's fantastic
