where to buy a touch-up pen for stone chips

Hi,

I have just bought a Seat Leon FR TDi 170bhp today in candy white. There are a few stone chips on the bonnet and bumper that I would like to deal with immediately.

I've seen a few touch-up pens on eBay that claim to be for VW/Audi Candy White cars - are these worthwhile getting? They are around £5-10.

If these are no good where is the best place to buy one?

My paint code is LB9A.

Update: i've just bought one "Hycote Volkswagen Candy White Paint Touch-in Paint" from eBay for £4.59 delivered.

Always find that people struggle to get a good finish with these touch up kits let use know how it turns out

I have an officical Zenith grey touch up kit, its nothing like the colour of the car, its much darker. I eneded up getting my brothers bodyshop to mix me up some paint. Its a perfect match so maybe worth going to somewhere like that.

just get one from halfords if its just touching up ya after

I got a halfords one candy white is listed under VW not seat.
It comes with brush and a needle too this is very accurate at getting paint into those small chips

very easy to use with good results build the paint into the chip a coat at a time until it is slightly proud leave for 24 hours after the last coat then T cut it back whilst its still "soft" and the chip usually completely disappears.

Yeah a lot of the VAG ones are. VW diamond black, skoda black magic and seat black magic all have the same paint code.

I've only had my car on the road for 1 month and 3 weeks I've got over 10 stone chips on the bonnet, and 3 chips in the windscreen.

Yes, I bought the Hycote Candy White touch-up pen and used it in a number of places. I can't pretend it's like new, but it's x10 better than having a tonne of stone chips on your bonnet and bumper. It only cost me a few pounds, so i'm quite happy. No doubt it'll look better again when i've waxed/polished the car too.

ive emailed seat re this asking if theres a quality issue as my bonnet is pebble dashed more in 5 mths than my previous 2 cars have been in 4 years. thought toyota paintwork was crap till i bought a Seat

For those who complain of stone chips, i found this a couple of months back, i had not previously noticed it but it is getting progressively worse.

About 5cm long and up to 2cm wide, a HUGE touch up job has previously been done. Unfortunately it appears to be flaking away

I went to a local bodyshop earlier and asked him how best to sort it. He said respray. Oh no, not one door, but the drivers and the passenger door. £280 + VAT. My car is a pearlescent colour

Not a happy bunny at all. I think a SEAT dealer did it while it was in having work done as i looked top to tail on it when i bought it, however i unfortunately have no proof! Gutted.

The sticker in the front of your service book gives you the colour code.

Stone chips need some prep,the brush that comes with them is like a bog brush when it comes to painting.Buy a fine modelling brush and clean the chips out with IPA first I use a magnifyig glass and build the paint up to thickness slowly. I have candy white with a SEAT paint touch upyou can hardly see the chips.

Thought I'd jump into this thread rather than start another.......

My paint code in the service book is LS7Z - car is zenith grey. All kits i've seen call up S7Z - is the missing L anything important??

Got a few minor chips I want to touch up and thought I'd give it a go myself. Halfords don't seem to do a paint with this code in Seat, VW, or Audi. Amazon has a CarDoctor and a ScratchDoctor kit. Ebay doesn't seem to have any kits.

Anyone got experience of these brands??

Also, anyone know the equivalent vw, skoda, or audi colour name?
