Advice on Bouncy front suspension...

As some of you know I have recently fitted a VOGTLAND 35mm sports suspension kit. Unfortunately the front end is still rather bouncy given the car has done several hundred miles since it was fitted.

Yesterday at the MOT the garage commented the front end feels bouncy and doesnt feel right given it is all new suspension so I have contacted VOGTLAND for advice.

But in the meantime I'm assuming the bouncyness is due to the lack of damping control? - Under cornering the car feels fine so assume the springs are good.

i.e. replace with better dampers and the issue will go away?

The rear feels spot on ... just the front that is the issue so I'm considering buying adjustable front shocks ...

Any thoughts? - Obviously I dont want to throw money at it and not resolve the issue properly.

I suspect VOGTLAND will ask for the dampers to be sent back to Germany for inspection ... which means car off the road for several weeks that I'm not willing to do ... so I will need to buy some other shocks to fit to the front as the originals from my car are shot!

Supplier (FK Automotive) are saying they have never had any issues with this kit and suspect installation error.

Both the garage (race tuner!) and myself have checked the install numerous times and its spot on... how can suspension be bouncy if its an install error I'd like to know... lol

FK have now requested pictures ... what they are going to see from the pictures I don't know...

I suspect the front dampers simply are not good enough for the job. The front end just feels VERY soft or rather the way it bounces over bumps seems to show this.

On the road over bad bumps the front rises and falls very quickly ... speed humps really show how bad it is ... as the car seems to rise without proper control.

I have my old kit but its shot ... even so the damping was a hell of a lot better up front than it is now ... the kit is designed for Leon 1M 1.8T, FR, TDi so is cross platform.

Do you think it's worth trying the springs with my old dampers? :confused:

If anyone is in the Manchester area will happily demonstrate!

I can install my old front dampers ... but it is still a few hours work which not too pleased about or having to put worn components back on the car.

2nd hand LCR front shocks can be had for £50 ... or I can buy brand new SACHS units for £65 each...

More money though ...
 
All i can suggest is tae pics of the install if thats what they want

Fit ur old dampers as whatever happens you will prob have to send them back

Uk supplier? If so sales of goods act applies - goods must be fit for purpose. So they must be accepted back. That's the law!

Not so sure about German law if it's from there

Same applies to my knowledge. FK Automotive are german although supply to UK distributors... I purchased through Amazon so UK law applies.

Issue is I don't want to return the whole kit ... they are unlikely to accept the front dampers only.

I'm tempted to just install brand new SACH's OE dampers in all honesty unless I can find sensibly priced adjustables for the front. :(

Are they the one's for the heavier Cupra 1020 kg(i think) axle,as if they were for the standard leon,i only ask as i saw Damian had two different kits,down to axle weight,just a suggestion,but think i'll wait a little longer to order mine,this might push me to the Weitec ones as recommended by Damian....As we had discussed.
