Have sent the seller an enquiry Via Ebay asking what type /Brand of unit this is as by the looks of it if you don't have a supported unit then updates (via naviextras) is a no go - even if you have igo software!:censored:

Surely you would support your software & you hardware!???

That being the case - bang go the official pukka map updates!!!![:@]

1) yes it has Bluetooth
2) Nope - all cables needed are there.
3) Almost plug n play - might have you scratching your head on a couple of things 9it did me) as there aren't any installation instructions.
4) Ipod control is via steering wheel buttons (as usual) and screen.
5) No videos but the screen is pretty responsive imo - not instant, but doesn't take that long either
6) What do you mean control!?

3) is it not just a case of connecting one socket to the existing?
6) as in equalisers, bass/mid/treble. hpf and lpf and sub volumes?

It's the Aerial connection that might throw ya a little as you get a wee box with 3 leads and an aerial connection, and it's knowing what goes where - it took me a while to figure it out(which to ignore, and what to connect and where!)

There is a SUB button but i dunno what it does???

Seller has gotten back to me advising that you cannot update the nav on this unit via the proper programme, and that they are looking to source an alternative supplier and possibly go with tomtom software, I have enquired if there any currently available alternatives that you could maybe get the SD card or programme for that would run with this unit instead of using the igo software.

Sorted my (mostly green) button colour issue, there's a button on the screen that changes there colour from,

1) Mostly off (SRC lights up red)
2) Mostly Red (all red except for phone answer button iirc - which make sense i guess!)
3) mostly Green (only SRC lights up Red again!)

Now if i can just sort the nav issue out!!!!

Here's my build number

And I haven't a clue how you work the Naviextras website :D
It does say on my software to go there for free updates though.

Tbh if i were you i'd wait till we/the Ebay seller has been able to sort something regards the nav programme because a nav prog you CANNOT update isn't really any good is it!

The seller did advise me that they were "negotiating" with another supplier for tomtom software that you CAN update for around 20 euros a pop, but until that happens &/or we're able to source some decent updates for the exisiting nav then i'd hang fire!

To be honest I don't think the nav issue should really stop you going for it. I've been using mine since Feb and had no problems with the maps on any trips I've been on.

There will always be ways of updating it and for the price it really is a great bit of kit. They are a nice, cheap, oem looking unit.

You could always fork out some more and buy a Dynavin unit :D

Yeah - for the money the unit is packed with features i'll openly admit that one, yes some of the screens could be better/nicer to look at imo (the ipod screen is just a bit "bland"), & Ok i do agree that me saying DON'T buy the unit just yet because of the Nav update issue may seem a little extreme, but if by waiting a little longer folks can get hold of this unit with a nav programme that CAN be kept up to date - then that's gotta be good advice hasn't it!!

I shall keep tapping the ebay seller up every so often to see if anything comes of the possible tomtom move, and may try switching to that if it bears fruit, but at the same time i except that a "reasonably" upto date nav will usually get you where you want to go trouble free!! if in the mean time we could source reliable updates for the Igo nav then i may well stick with it, but if this proves fruitless then it's inevitable that i'll move on to a nav app than can be kept upto date should one become available!

for it's O.E.M look and feautres it's great, but when one of the more important apps is semi hampered by lack of necessary support!?, Gotta give you a moment of pause hasn't it!

I need something like this in my car. Parents picked up an SE Copa today with Media System 2.2 and I was blown away with how good it is. £1000 for a fitted Kenwood unit is a bit much. Even that Dynavin one looks alright if you consider what you're getting for the money.

The Dynavin one is the best, but it comes with the higher price tag

I'd have little problem recommending this unit for the money it costs if i just knew we could get reliable Nav updates (still waiting for the supplier to come back regards the possible tomtom software)

if we could source reliable updates for the igo software it'd be little shy of a no-brainer really as there's a lot of functionality for £320 delivered (Nav,Ipod,Radio,Region free dvd,SD card,USB blah blah blah!)
