I can get hold of a pd 150 second hand fr 250 should I grab that? And eBay can do 1 ill take the bad feedback on the chin
 
Is the kp 39 same as bv 39? My turbo is 038253016 s and there's Is 038253016 R? I've found a cartridge for that turbo and was wondering if it would fit thanks guys and sorry to be the worlds no1 pest
 
Ok guys I managed to get a second hand turbo off a sharan 130 asz it should be here this week (I hope) lol
 
I'm going through exactly the same thing. 2006 FR TDI with ASZ engine and turbo gone.

Have bought a turbo from a MK4 golf ASZ. The manifold egr outlet is slightly different/ offset from the one removed. However given that the pipe which fits it is flexible, it shouldn't be too much hassle to fit. Failing that, it will be EGR delete as suggested.

Am surprised that you managed to get it off yourself, perhaps should have attempted it myself but am keen to get all the pipe work cleared out in case of anything having broken and lodged itself in the pipes.

Also as suggested, 150 turbo will fit but you will need to have the car remapped to suit.

The turbo from sharan will need to be clocked, I.e. turned so it's positioned correctly for the pipes. Very easy, just 6 or 7 bolts, undo them and remove the turbo, reposition it and tighten up the bolts again.
 
Yes it might need clicking, you should do it yourself how much you paying for somone else to do it? There no more than 20 bolts involves its really not that hard. I removed all plastic rubber pipes and hoses first then the metal inlet pipe and then the inlet manifold then the down pipe on the exhaust then the oil return and the feed and 1 bolt at the bottom of the turbo then it pulled out, but you have to removed the oil cap and coller to be able to take it from the top it's so easy, I'm thinking about making a aguide as I needed 1 before I started to tackle it without knowledge. I don't think ill pay anyone again for these type of jobs
 
I guess it's like any job, if there is a detailed how-to and you have the general ability you realise it's not worth paying. I'm paying about £150 for turbo and Intercooler including all cleaning of pipes, etc. I don't think it's a bad price.

I thought I would need a ramp as I had a friend of my dads have a look and he suggested it was a ramp job.

How to would be great generally. You should Defo do one. Let me know what you do with your old turbo as I have one which apparently is only 3-4 months old so would be a waste just throwing it. Impeller is loose and one of them is broken. (hence ensuring pipes are cleaned out)

That's a good price but even takin off the bumper to do the intercooler is easy. U can do it with just 2 axel stands and jack u only need to be under the car for 10 mins lower the car and do everything else from the top if you aren't confident then pay somone to do it but if you have a little confidence then go ahead and give it a go. When are you planning on gettin it done? I fort I had fixed my turbo with new bearing exc and there was a fine bend in the shaft fort it would be fine but it makes the noise again so ill be takin it all back off again and doing it once and for all within the next 2 days. Ill make notes and take pictures of everything required and step by step of what to do just incase you want to attempt it yourself and save the extra cash for the remap
 
The car is with the garage now. As I say I thought it was a ramp only job so had to bite the bullet. They've removed the turbo so I can't really walk away now.

Still hunting for a Intercooler and a turbo pipe. Once I have those I'll be dropping it off and letting them finish the job.

I wouldn't mind seeing pics and a how to all the same for the next time it happens. (fingers crossed).
 
What's wrong with your old intercooler and pipe?

Pipe has a split and been advised by the garage to change the Intercooler as it's not in the best condition. Trying to source some cheaply.

Seems golf/ a3 ones are different?

Edit: oh and Intercooler could have bits from turbo in it. So would advise that you change yours too.
