Turbo failure

Hi I have a 2003 Ibiza tdi and my turbo Makes a siren noise I'm thinking of repairing it myself never done it before but il give it a go. Does anyone have a guide on how to remove the pd 130 asz turbo and what would my turbo code be, I've been told gt1749v and then another site says k39? Any help would be highly appreciated and merry Christmas to all

The Seat PD130 isn't the Garrett 1749 turbo, it's the cheaper variant.

DIY turbo repair isn't as easy as you think as you're dealing with fine measurements to ensure it stays together and it doesn't rattle itself to death.

It should be a KKK KP39, however, a PD130 turbo from other VAG models of similar year (except Passat) should fit, not 100% but I'm sure someone else will confirm...

not always the KKK turbo, the KKK was introduced on the facelifts along with the BLT engine block, the pre-facelifted cars mainly came with the Garrat setups which prove to be more realiable than the chocolate KKK's.

There are exceptions to this but that above is the general rule of thumb

Mine is pre facelift I'm goin to attemp taking out the turbo tomorrow, does anyone have a guide to go from?

I haven't had time to remove turbo but I have managed to get the make and model it's a kkk k39 0012 I need a guide guys can somone help?

I managed to remove my turbo today it was alot easier than I first had thought. I taken it out thru the top wich was the hardest part. My manifold and egr was rammed with old tacky oil and had to be cleaned. Upon inspection of my turbo there seems to be no play in the shaft and not impact of the impellers to the side wall of the turbo I had only done 2 miles max when I heard the noise so I guess I was lucky to just get away with the bearing damage. I'm goin to attempt the pull apart and service of the turbo next week, its an upgraded part with a 360 bearing. Just for further reference what ft lbs do the manifolds have to be when I refit them? Thanks

Turbo-to-Manifold = 30 Nm (22 lb/ft)
Exhaust Manifold = 25 Nm (15 lb/ft)
Turbo-to-Downpipe = 25 Nm (15 lb/ft)

I'm lookin for a new turbo do I think the arl pd 150 1 will fit? I heard its a much stronger unit

Not sure about the PD150 as the manifolds may be different, the more knowledgeable will confirm if it does.

However, I quick search on Turbo Dynamics Website appears to show the a PD130 Turbo from the following models are pretty much a straight swap;

I don't know exactly how reliable this is but if it's a ASZ engine, you should be fine.

That's great news basically any turbo from asz engine will fit

Pd150 unit fits, you'll have to bypass the egr and clock it compressor side but it'll go on as a straight swap.

Why do you have to bypass the egr, and this is good news!

The manifold takeoff is at a different angle. It does help stop the inlet getting gunged up

What consists of an egr delete? Is the the tube that comes off the manifold? Then that's it
