Hi,

I know that some Mk4 Ibiza's had anti-dazzle / auto dimming rear view mirrors fitted as an optional extra, so I wanted anyone that has one to add a picture to see what they looked like? Also, if people have retro fitted one to their Mk4 please can you let me know how hard it was and what parts were / are required.

Thanks in advance

I would quite like one of these, never new they were an optional extra. Dave at sere could be able to sort one out if your wanting one though!

I've spoken to Dave and he advised me that some Mk4's had the auto-dip mirror, but it is £200 plus a few pieces of trim required to retro fit them. I have no idea what is involved in retro-fitting as SEAT give no help whatsoever with modifications and I haven't actually seen one or heard about anyone who has fitted one.

You'd think the guys would know but some of them are useless. I would of thought its a simple'ish job by removing old and sticking on new..? Unless there is cables involved to the battery or whatever.
I tell you who might know what they're doing, a windscreen company... they would need to remove them for new glass etc

As far as I'm aware there is an additional piece of trim that goes between the headlining and the mirror which would hide the cables etc. Also, the power would need to be fed from an ignition live as otherwise the mirror would adjust even when parked up.

Any picture from existing owners would be appreciated.

fit a golf mk4 or bora anti dazzle mirror..then run the wires to it..i did mine..

theres a guide on uk mkiv's as to what wire does what...i think theres only 3 to connect.

I have one on mine do you still want pics? If so what do you want pics of?

Sweet.

A picture of the rear view (head on) with the head lining / interior light assembly would be good. As far as i know the mirror dimensions / size is the same as a normal mirror and I believe that there is some additional trim fitted between the mirror and the headlining / interior light assembly. Is this right (although a picture would answer this question)?

Finally, is your mirror a standard SEAT set-up or retro fitted from another model? If its from another model, which model and year / mark?

Thanks in advance.

its a genuine SEAT part as was fitted as with the FR 'Luxury pack' along with power folding door mirros etc, without removing the headlining I cant see how its wired into the car but from the pictures you'll get the general idea. I believe its wired into the same place as the interior light but dont quote me on that. You can see the cabling for the mirror in the pics.

Sweet.

That should be a piece of p1ss to fit - I was worried that it was more plastic trim rather than cables from the interior light. I should only need to take the earth from the interior light and pull an ignition feed into place (so that it doesn't flatten the battery because its dimming whilst parked). Now I just need to source a good condition second hand mirror.

Cheers for the pictures.

dont be surprised if theres a plug for it, I've found that alot on this car lol

Is it poss to grab the part number for the Biza one please, I'll then check weebay for a match and check the stealers too.

Hmm sounds do-able, don't per chance know the part number the Golf or Audi one so I don't buy the wrong item? Wouldn't be the first time in my car mod history.

You'll also find the gold mk4 auto dim mirror is the same as used in the b5 passat as I raided a mk4 auto dim mirror for my passat after my auto dim bled. I may even have a spare wiring loom and rain sensor kickin about someone could have. I'll have a look.
