Hi,

I've just purchased a Leon Cupra R and there are a few questions which i will list below.

Firstly the rear breaks make a horrible sound while reversing, almost like driving around with the handbreak on, how can i fix this?

Secondly the airbag warning light between the dials is constantly on, should i worry about this?

Also, how do you get a double din head unit to fit properly, i cant for the life of me get mine to fit flush. While on the stereo topic what uprated alternator options are available as i will be installing alot of stereo(150dB+ hopefully)

Finally i love the car, its stupid quick :D

Hi,

I've just purchased a Leon Cupra R Congratulations!

Firstly the rear breaks make a horrible sound while reversing, almost like driving around with the handbreak on, how can i fix this?

Secondly the airbag warning light between the dials is constantly on, should i worry about this?It will need sorting as it won't pass the MOT like that and might not work if you need it

Is it standard? Get a readers ride going and welcome to the site.

Stage 2 I think, the previous owner said it was dyno'd at 270hp but lost the printout, since then its had a front mount intercooler fitted which should help a bit too.

Sorry what do you mean by readers ride?

Thanks for the welcome :)

Rear brake binding in reverse is called mooing

Simple fix is some springs for the caliper / handbrake

Look on ebay for vw hand brake spring :)

I've found some paperwork for the dyno and from what i can see its had a P-Torque stage 2 map and makes 269hp.

Thanks jasc, ill have a look at that now.

Its probably already done the rounds on this forum, the previous owner said to come here.

I'd get the map looked at.

Sorry to highjack your thread lol4fun, but jasc1988 mentioned mooing with the rear disks which is interesting. Mine have squealed when reversing off the drive since I changed the disks and pads.
I've found it really annoying and only does it when cold.
So to fix the prob is new springs then.
The current springs felt ok though. I thought it might be me not greasing the pad runners enough so the don't release off the disks.

Thanks.

P-torque have a thread on here so seem fairly legit, but will be good to get it checked over. Anywhere trusted near Worcester?

There was a bit of negativity for them on facebook, however, there have been plenty of happy P-Torque customers on here for years since way before people started laying into them.

Personally, like all similar discussions on here, I'd suggest you just use the car for a while and see if you're happy with it. If it boosts well and drives smooth without any nasty spikes, why change map?

Places near you would be Badger5 I think going by your location.

Fitted my missing helper return spring today and got no reverse noise anymore yippee.....

So the fix is check the handbrake cables are returning correctly and check you got the helper springs already fitted cupra R are ment to come with them but someone had fitted a new calliper to mine without the spring.... Around £3 to fix mine

There is a printout of the map but I don't know what would be a good or a bad one, it seems to peak at 5500 then tail off pretty sharp

If you can plug a code reader in, that should point you in the direction of sorting the airbag light.

As my light was on when I bought my LCR. The error code said it was a faulty passenger side crash sensor.

This sensor is located under the carpet and underlay just in front of the front passenger seat. I pulled it all out to find that the underlay was soaking, which as a result soaked the sensor.

So my airbag fault was a result of a leaking door seal. Door seals are common failure on these!

Might be worth checking!

for what its worth ive used p-torque in the past on my mk4 ibiza cupra and i was more than happy with the results, will is very good at what he does.

when i pick my lcr up ill be taking that to p-torque too.

I can't fault it to be honest, smooth power that puts you in the seat. the car also has had a different turbo fitted, not too sure what but it apparently its off a touring car
