I've been filling my Exeo up with BP Ultimate Diesel for the last six months or so and I'm sure the engine runs smoother with it compared to other fuels. However, Esso have recently introduced their "Progress" as their new standard fuel and I wondered if anyone's been using it and noticed any difference to Esso's previous diesel or better still, switched from BP Ultimate to Esso Progress and is able to give a comparison?

Haven't used that type, but Morrisons one definitely makes a difference to my Passat.

For the better?

Wasn't it Morrisons and Tesco fuels that knackered a load of engines a few years ago? And if I recall weren't they both supplied by the same independent oil company called Greenergy?

Just looked that story up as I don't remember it and you're right. It was '07 and unleaded that contained silicon, confined to the South East.

Yes definitely for the better - there's a subtle but noticeable 'smoothness' after I fill up. I'll try the others and see how they compare.....
