What issues you had?

Here in Italy non standard lights are already a no go for our MOT equivalent.
Fortunately I got a very friendly place where I get my cars MOT'd.
About the coppers pullin' you, the old owner of the Leon placed fake healight washer covers and with proper headlights [fresnel lens and everything] I'm pretty confident they'd fall for it.

Auto levelling sensor seizing up, motors failing, switch issue, condensation. And when there is an issue with the lights, you get a yellow bulb flashing right ni the middle of your dash all the time - very annoying.

The cornering lights while great in principle are **** in practice as they really dont help in the corners in my opinion and only really generate more income when they start going wrong in year 3 and older.

My last car was in for headlight warranty work more than anything else.

So your car came from the factory with the OEM Xenons already fit, right?

In my case, I'd just bolt the OEM headlights in [the ones without the cornering lights feature] and stick with that. No motors, no washers, no sensors, no nothing! [and yes, before anyone points out for the millionth time, I know, that would make the car not road legal. I'm sorry, I didn't recognise you, officer :D ]
So I guess I'd avoid all of the issues you had with the lights.

Guys, i am gathering data regarding retrofitting OEM xenons on my Altea 2.0Tdi 2007. I will have some questions for you. Does the Oem headlight come with ballast or does it have to be ordered separately as is the case with xenon bulb?

As long as you put them on a beam setter and adj them correctly I cant see you ever having a problem with being pulled. As for the auto height adj, it seems pointless for our type of cars, its more for towing a caravan or trailer.

Ballasts are seperate - when bought, they then slide into the underside of the headlamp unit.

As for auto leveling etc.

I had OEM headlamps retrofitted, 5000k bulbs, set the beam roughly then had it levelled off at my local MOT station. I had not one issue from anyone flashing me, police, anything.

100% better than a Hid kit for beam pattern, clarity of light and not dazzling people (i had 2 hid kits before fitting the OEM's FYI)

Tnx m8. That is the kind of answer I was looking and hoping for. Since I am buying all new parts from local Seat dealer, it will be quite expensive. Are the parts on your list all
i will need? I dont mind auto leveling or washing if it's all as you say..

Ah, some more questions :) What are the cheaper alterantives to OEM ballasts, if there are any? Are Valeo ballasts genuine OEM ballasts, or cheaper replacements? What are ignitors? Are they integrated with the ballasts or bulbs, or need to be bought separately sa well?! Thn for replies and help guys. Much appreciate your help.

My understanding is that to fit the auto leveling system its major work - as in, a new wiring loom to the rear of the car, installing the leveling sensor on the rear axle etc too.

The ballasts are seperate items, but they fit inside the base of the headlamp.

The bulbs are seperate items too.

The ballasts i had were Valeo, however they dont need to be bought from Seat direct. A lot of motor factors and parts suppliers will be able to supply the ballasts at a lower cost than Seat.

I do not know what the ignitors are that you mentioned? My set up had the headlamp unit, a xenon bulb, then the ballast slotted in at the bottom of the headlamp unit.

Tnx a lot S2BB. So, basically, with the list of parts you supplied, it's basically all plug and play?! You disconnect and remove the halogen headlights, plug these (CONNECTOR 1J0973737 - £3 x 2, WIRE 000979131 - £1.41 x 2) in without any modification whatsoever, connect to the new headlights, and it works?! I am also interested in whether you have got the bi-xenon function to work as well? Cheers. :)

Yes, but would I be able to add leveling sensors later if I used any ballasts? I guess not since it all has to be coded via Vag.Com. I would rather pass buying chinese ballasts anyway since they are low quality and do not last very long... Correct me if i am wrong...

Guys, ordered ballasts and bulbs on e-bay, and am about to take headlights from my Seat dealer. They will cost me 700 euros.

On e-bay I saw two different sets of OEM Xenon headlights. I sincerely hope i wont end up with the ugly ones :( What are the differences?

Part numbers for the headlights I am about to order are:

1P1 941 040 - light units for 'right hand traffic' - right
1P1 941 039 - light units for 'right hand traffic' - left

Do they come with the cornering function?

One thing that worries me is whether the ECU will throw errors upon detecting that the washers and auto leveling sensors are missing?

Please explain. Tnx

Guys, i googled a bit more and found out that the first ones from my post above are not bi xenons and were being manufactured for ALTEA in 2005. If I get these, (and I can get them cheaper plus install easier, will I have trouble coding them via Vag Com, since my car is later 2007? Help, I need to make a quick decision. Do they still use valeo 6g ballasts and the same bulbs as bi-xenons?

Shouldn't get any ecu errors since, if I got that right, the ecu xenon setting is just a 0-1 value to tell the ecu the car has xenons. Ecu shouldn't give an inch about the auto-leveling and washer presence or not.
Can't comment on your other questions, sorry, but I'm pretty sure your dealer can help.

What are you trying to achieve? Firstly, I presume you also have a pre FL car? Do you want to retrofit some bi-xenon projectors in them?
