I want to scan my car as I have just bought it to check for any faults. Ideally something like vagcom, not just a generic code reader.

What the cheapest / best?

Thanks

Hmm, what cable do I need to to use with ross tech software?

Right, a question if anyone owns that scanner from DealXtreme. Does the software only work on windows XP? I can borrow a laptop easy enough but its either Vista or Windows 7.

Also, major noob question, apparently the OBD port is either in the centre console or in the glove box? And with the one linked above what will I be able to do? Read only? Clear codes? Change anything funky?

Assuming you also have a mk1 leon, the plug will be in the centre console under the ash tray part. Just remove the small rectangle piece of plastic covering it:)

As for the software, you should be able to read codes, clear codes and possibly do some basic logging.

I received this cable on Tuesday and it works fine with windows 7!

For anyone who purchased this through dealextreme, what company delivered it to you?

Royal mail? I ordered mine but need to change the address as its going to take 5-8 weeks for delivery apparently.
