Saaaaaafffolk, buh.
Hi there,

I bought my leon cupra about 2 months ago. Since then the temp gauge rises and falls continuously while driving, then when on idle it jumps up to around 800rpm from 600-700 every 10 seconds or so!

Any one any ideas what this could be? I've searched around and only found either one or the other problem! So any idea would be appreciated? as in common faults etc.

Also, the one sensor (can't remember which) thats been updated to a green top version has been done.

Help guys please :( it's really bothering me!!

It's not an r by the way, just the 180bhp.

The temp going up or down i would have thought is the thermostat. I recently changed mine as my temp was going up and down when driving (i thought it was the cold weather- only had my leon 7months) but since changing it, it warms up alot quicker and holds 90 all day long.
Only a cheap part too, id start there mate

Agree its most likely the stat playing up. As the cars trying to get up the temp all the time it can effect lots of things so as said sort that first.

Changed that yesterday and its worked spot on mate! Bit of a pain in the arse hahah
But its solved the temp gauge issue, ive now gotta sort the rough idle...
I'm thinking to try and clean maf? Will that help some? Im pretty sure the car was neglected before my ownership :(

Yeah I got my mechanic mate to do it for me, I read about diy-ing it but didn't fancy screwing it up!
Not sure about the idle to be honest. Mine idles at 800 constantly. IMO if it's a new car, I'd check the sparks, coil packs, breather hoses for splits and get a genuine new MAF rather then a cheap option. Can't hurt to takethe MAT off and give it a quick check.
