Been thinking of doing a home Refurb on my brakes and changing the colour to yellow.

Just a bit of advice from anyone who has done theirs or anyone who has 2 penneth to throw in would be much appreciated.

Thanks very much :D

Degreaser them, scuff them with a green scotch pad, prime, paint, laquer, job done

It's easier to do a good job if you remove them, especially to change colour, bit you can manage a decent job on the car.

There's really nothing to it

like mine :)

and i have bought the red letter stickers off ebay to put on them just not fitted yet :)

Any brand inpaticular? Don't want to use any old paint and the bubble and fade due to the amount of heat that will go through them

Not too sure mate will find out for you, it was from local paint place Auto Paints doncaster

Really like the alloy colour too, smoked chrome right? Mine are due a refurb.

Regarding paint, I used hammerite smooth red from a local hardware store, but have also heard of using Japlac signal red.

The wheels are Anthracite matey, Hammerite is good but these have been done with a spray gun so perfect finish

Did mine a few weeks back again and just sanded them down a bit with wet and dry to key the surface and then painted with high temp engine paint. Waited for paint to dry then "cut" the excess paint off from the seat sport lettering. Also had the wheels re-sprayed BMW sparkling graphite grey :)

barney501, seen your refurbed AP calipers and they look mint! What paint did you use?

Cheers.

Thanks for your help mate. Hopefully doing mine this weekend if the weather is alright! Have you got any tips for doing them? Well has your dad haha

Hello mate i used a tin of VHT paint, very high temperature paint from my local auto factors. Paints ideal as its high temp it can be used on brakes, engine blocks etc

Just cleaned them up good first with warm soapy water and a scouring pad. To be honest you could sand the Seat Sport lettering with a sanding block (someone on here did that) and not paint it at all as. Just a small brush and a thin coat and it dries really quick and the paint will flatten out even if it looks lumpy. I would say 2 coats ideally, mine need another coat but haven't had time yet.
