Hi Tim,

Yeah I had a slight delay, no big issue although I did chase, but only because my order was very close to the end of the offer.

I was going for a 1.4 SE, however I found myself specifying many options that were standard on the FR, anyway eventually decided on an Apollo Blue 1.4 FR like yourself. I kept standard wheels and interior, but ticked the box for everything else :)

I find it quite strange in this automated world to have to wait 14 weeks for a car, which if the discovery channel is to be believed takes about 3 hours to make. alas I am just going to have to wait...

Got my documentation from both DTD and the dealer, so I'm more confident that the car being built is the car I ordered.

Did you test drive the 1.4 ?

Andrew,

Yes, I ended up test driving the 1.4TSi SE version at my local dealer as they didn't have an FR with that same engine. Was impressed with the engine, very smooth and responsive with a decent turn of acceleration.

Also got my documentation through from DTD but nothing from the dealer yet, although due any day now apparently.

I quite like the look of the Apollo blue version but my last 3 cars have all been blue so fancied a change this time ! It was a toss-up between Monsoon grey & Nevada white but decided on the former in the end.

Have you thought about contacting the supplying dealer about the fact that the Tech pack is now free (as of July 01st) ? An unbelievable offer, but looks like we were a week too early with our orders so not sure if they will budge on price now.

Tim,

Yes a little surprised by the free offer, however the DTD price has not changed, so I suspect the deal is paid by the dealer, therefore you are getting the discount they'd probably have given you anyway, just garanteed this time. Just how they play with the margins.

I drove a 1.4 fr and was pleasantly surprised by how quick it was, looking forward to getting it.

To those who have used a broker; how did you handle any part exchange?

Were the dealers you'd been put in contact with willing to take a PX, and if so, what prices were they offering - reasonable, or bottom of (or even below) book? Was the price to change any better than you'd been offered at a dealer?

How was any PX managed if the dealers were the other side of the country - did the same guy who delivered the car take your PX away with him; was he the one checking its condition, etc?

I hate the whole business of having to deal with salesmen, and the whole 'game' of haggling, so if buying a car over the internet was as painless as ordering from Amazon, it's a route I'd be willing to take.

Read my post #31 above. Tells exactly how I bought via a broker and PX'd the old motor.

Simples.

Thanks. I presume you'd been in to your local dealer(s) before and discussed a price to change. Was the price you were offered for your part exchange through the broker's dealer lower than your local dealers, and if so, by a substantial margin?

I note that others have used dealers over 200 miles from their home and have had their cars delivered. I wonder if their experiences were as simple as yours?

The local dealers were monumentally useless as far as a deal went, very nice but useless. All they could offer was basic trade and free stick on rear tints. The brokers dealer was only a couple of weeks of shopping lower for my PX.

A quick question regarding the deposits. When is the 30% deposit (or 50% re. the hp 0% deal) supposed to be paid to the dealer, do they expect it on order or delivery?

Ordered my 1.4 TSI SE through Carfile as I had a trade in and it was a very easy painless experience. I'm actually taking delivery of my new Leon on the 24th of this month as the car was already built and at port in this country.

Latest Delivery Time Updates

FAO Andrew_ww

Hi Andrew,

It's been over a month now since we ordered our cars through DTD, was just wondering if you've had any further contact with the dealer ?

They said originally that they'd contact me in early August with an update but I decided to jump the gun and phoned them instead this morning.

Judging by some of the posts on this forum about delayed delivery dates (approx. 17-18 weeks etc.) & factory summer shutdowns, I was expecting bad news but was surprised to find out that I have a build date of the 2nd week in August, meaning that in theory the car will be delivered by the end of August - so approx. 9 wks from ordering. Pretty happy about that.

I've told the dealer to hang on to it until Sept so that it's on a '63 plate, but all being well might even have by Sept 01st ! Roll on the end of August.

Tim

Hi Tim,

No news as yet, although I haven't chased it yet; tend to find the waiting time flies if you forget about it. I give it another fortnight and I’ll give them a nudge if I haven't heard anything.

I think the spec of our cars is quite similar so I imagine the delivery times would be quite close together. Just got to keep my current one going for a few more weeks

After reading about the summer closure I did have visions of a half painted Leon sitting in a dark factory for weeks.

Cheers Andy.

Thought I'd resurrect this thread as I've been trying (unsuccessfully) to get through to SEAT finance all afternoon to cancel my PCP in the 14 day window.

I was expecting a lengthy wait and realise that it's a busy time of year for them but I spent 80 mins holding and just gave up in the end - my bladder couldn't take any more !! I also tried the alternative Audi and VW finance numbers that have been quoted in this thread but again no joy, although admittedly I only gave them 15 mins each as by then I was losing the will to live.

I will try again tomorrow but not looking forward to it. Does anybody else have any other phone numbers that they've successfully got through on in the past ?

Hi TIMBUCK2,
Try this No 01908 485000. I tried the alternative numbers too and they all appear to take you to exactly the same place - VW Financial Services. Also, try phoning as soon as they open in the morning. I got straight through on Saturday at 9am. Failing that, there is a call back service where you can actually speak to someone and agree a suitable time. Hope this helps?

Thanks for the reply Shiners, I tried 3 different numbers today, including the one you provided, and glad to say I finally managed to get through in the end on one of the numbers (VW - 0870 010 2022) - still took almost an hour though. Hallelujah, the PCP contract is now cancelled !! Only ended up paying approx. £10 in interest, now got 30 days to pay off the balance.

The dealer is making me wait 14 days after I signed the finance document before they'll release the new car. Since it's the 0% APR finance deal, it's hardly the case that I would go somewhere else... pretty dumb I think!

Dealer claims it's a Seat Finance company requirement... although they also stated it doesn't apply if I pick up the car in person (vs. having it delivered by lorry as previously agreed).

In the end, I don't care about the 2-week delay; but wonder if this is something new against people who are cancelling their PCP early?

Don't think it's a new thing, if you look at one of Starbucks78's early posts on this thread (#10) it applied then, back in May.

Got to say though that the dealer I used in Kent (through DTD) didn't apply that 14 day restriction on me, in fact I only returned my signed finance form 3 or 4 days before they delivered the car to me (2 weeks ago now). Either I had a good dealer who applied a bit of flexibility or I got lucky !

Not quite sure why they're saying that if you're on 0% - doesn't make sense, they won't gain anything. My dealer got me to sign my docs on the Saturday and I drove it back to work on the Tuesday (I took a long route back :D) Very strange behaviour considering you're not on an Interest-bearing package. You could always get it in writing from Seat Finance that it's not a requirement, then slap it in the dealer's face and (diplomatically) demand the car?
