nah ive stopped now don't want to loose it all went from 400 back to 75 then got it back up to 560 so im stopping now plus mrs cant moan what I buy for my car as its money I never had
They always moan it doesn't matter what you do. My mrs isn't happy at me getting a remap this week with my tax rebate but it's alright for her to take herself off to hen parties and wedding weekends in Dublin and spa weekends.
I told her no remap, no nookie. Gets them every time.
Drove around in Jarre's CR170 with his new coillies and must say....I want. Very very nice improvement over stock for the money.
Now I hate my suspension. Soggy crap.
On a positive...also realised how happy I am with my remap haha. And a newfound appreciation for DSG

Impressive stuff for the price. And very stock ride.
I'm a right sucker for not wanting a rock-hard ride, and these felt no different on normal roads. They handled potholes MUCH better than my stock suspension.
The harder speedbumps were harsh, but that's to be expected. But they don't feel great even on stock.
The car cornered really nicely and stayed planted. Nearly no body roll at all. I was having a whirl of a time circling around in the ASDA parking lot. (with Jarre hinting to stop being a tool and get on the road for a proper test).

Spax suspension are rubbish. I got a set of springs and dampers for the cordoba and the springs sagged and snapped. I thought it was a freak occurrence so got the springs replaced and the rear springs sagged again. They haven't snapped but need replaced and the eyelets in the dampers have worn and perished to an unacceptable degree after 2 years and 15000miles of use.
Eibach sportline, 25-35mm drop, are good springs but don't match them to standard dampers. The guy I bought my 01 Audi a6 off replaced the standard springs with these and it makes it quite bouncy down back roads. It also doesn't make for a good contact patch when cornering. I had noisey tyres on and you could hear the loading and unloading of the tyre at medium + 10% cornering effort. It tells me the match of the spring and damper isn't able to push the tyre to the ground. I know the inside gets light but the principle of pushing the tyre into the road surface should still be the same.
I had a mk1 jetta with lowering springs in it and replaced the setup with boge turbogas dampers and matching springs and the difference was night and day. No roll around the corners but still nice and straight along bumpy back roads.
That's intersting info because I've always wondered about the Sportlines on standard dampers. Technically it shouldb't work because you're no longer operating in the specified damping zones for the dampers when you change the springs its made for.
I have driven a bi turbo Quattro a6 with standard springs that had a bit more roll through the corners than mine so I think it helps there to have lower centre of gravity and stiffer springs. But I'd have to agree with your conclusion regarding the damping rates and spring stiffness settings.

Was good to see you mate. Thanks for the run out in your car too, the remap makes a huge difference to the 170 engine!
No worries. Shame you couldn't drive it. It's always different as a passenger. Hence I was very happy to be able to drive yours.

More and more I have to think that while they were absolutely terrible to Marshall on here (and a few others I know of), they have been spot on with me and in the BMW world they're kind of the foremost experts up here. So...just a company who needs to work on their specialism and CUSTOMER SERVICE!!
I guess it's not really fair for me to slag them off so much. Hence, I shan't anymore.
But I'm still not going to tempt fate by returning

Had a go with a Porsche Cayman S (290bhp 3.4 iirc) and wasn't much in it at all. Had a couple of runs too, well chuffed!
