It was Paul Bennett, there's 2 Paul's there apparently. He called me a few weeks back as well to tell me the build week and that the headlight washers were deleted, I guess we'll have to wait and see. I've gone for white, at least they won't get our cars mixed up, lol.

Yes, mine was Paul Bennett too. I was going to go for white also but had a last minute change of heart to Monsoon grey. Good job I did or else one of us may have had to wait longer, lol.

And finally
10/10/13 Collect Car from dealership

So here's the timeline for the help of others:
24 July Vehicle ordered (remember August factory shutdown)
16 September Vehicle manufactured and advised on 17th Sept by Dealer will take 2-4 weeks to arrive
2nd October at the port (might have been earlier as I chased dealer on 1st Oct) and will take a week or so to arrive at the dealer.
4th October Called to dealers to sign papers and get 7 days free insurance. Also signed for 4 years SEAT service plan for £11.45 (not £11.04 as quoted)pcm. Now that's a good deal as year 4 service is an expensive one. I really believe that folks should consider this unless it's a company car.
10th October Collect Car from dealership.

Morning all! Dep, have you managed to contain your excitement at picking your car up today??

I had a lovely voicemail from the dealers when I got home last night to say my car should be delivered to them today :D So I've got to go in to sort the free insurance, finance documents out and all going well....pick it up tomorrow!! What a great way to finish the working week lol

So my time scale would be....

25th of August: Car Ordered
23rd of September: Week car got built
30th of September: Car set sail on the LA Surprise
6th of October: LA Surprise arrived into Tyneside Port
10th of October: Car due to arrive at garage (pm) and sign documents etc
11th of October: Pick car up! :D

7 weeks in total which is pretty good going!!

Excitement contained .......barely. Now home with a nice shiny new car. 5 miles on the clock.
Can't hear *the* whistle,
Goes well enough and economically enough.
Nice new smell.
As expected no reversing mirror dips. Service are looking into software upgrade.
One or two sharp edges on switches etc and an unexpected reflection of the air vent grill low down on the windscreen. All trivial and cf with a BMW which cost a lot more.
Good handover from Lifestyle Brighton

Sounds awesome dep :D

Glad to hear you've not got the dreaded whistling from the grill. Maybe they'd modified the design by build week 39. I'll find out tomorrow lol

Can I ask what spec and colour you went for?

Will also ask about the reversing mirror dips when I pick up. I look forward to the pictures!

You must of replied Lawto just as I pressed send.....

Not too long to wait then! Mine took 5 days from port to arrive so definitely by end of next week you will be tearing (only after you've run it in ;) ) round the roads!

1.2 TSi + DSG SE Silver (the fleet runs in silver). Tech, Convenience, Climate, Folding mirrors, F+R Parking sensors. How's that then?
Nothing too fancy for us but high hopes of a practical, economical car with a bit of style and zing.
Just going outside to fettle it

Sounds like a lovely little specced up car you've got there :)
I had to google the term fettle there to see what you meant :p (blame the fact I'm Scottish)

Bring on tomorrow at 5.30pm...... lol

Interesting definitions.
The sense I was using it in is:
Brit dialect
a. to prepare or arrange (a thing, oneself, etc.), esp to put a finishing touch to ie put the finishing touches to it

In fact I can now comment that the paintwork is 100% unblemished. Extraordinary quality surveyed with lights and shadows both natural and artificial. And I've had a few cars from a Triumph Herald to a 5 series.
Go SEAT Go

I think that the captain of the Laudace must have hit the bottle!!! lol!! As of right now it has apparently got as far up the East Coast Of England to Great Yarmouth and has now turned back and is heading south!! Did he forget to dock in Sheerness!! Did the spend too long in Setubal in Portugal and enjoyed too long a shore leave!!! Keep watching folks!! Who knows what this later day descendant of Columbus will do next!! :)

I have just checked the marinetraffic website again, and the LAudace (hopefully with my new Leon aboard), has just turned South again! The complete sequence off the East coast of the UK (up to now) runs as follows: North, South, North, South, North, going South again now!! The distance between each change of direction is approximately the same!!

 Sounds like he's definitely had a bit too much of that fresh sea air! Either that or they've managed to employ the captain of the Concordia......:ban:

Hopefully it's just a fault with the website and he is actually going the correct way!

4 hours to pick up....... feel like i'm 5 years old again waiting for santa!! :D

I've just got off the phone with Seat CS. My car is a week 40 build which didn't make it onto the L'Audace. It's on the Galicia which is due in the UK next Friday 18th Oct. Checking the tracking site looks like its current ETA is 17/10 to Tyne.

Mine was build week 40 too. I phoned the dealer today for an update and he didn't really know what was going on. He said it was in transit but as he didn't have a chasis number yet he thinks it is at the docks in Spain and gave me a rough date of November 4th to pick it up! Phoned SEAT UK and they told me it was on the ship, the Galicia, which will be in the UK next Friday, so hopefully not long to wait. That means I only have a week or so to sell mine!!!
