RIP Cupra

Yesterday morning a lorry driver decided to pull out from stationary traffic in the left lane of a dual carriageway into the fast lane. This happened right in front of me as i was doing 60+mph.. One minute all was fine, the next all i could see was lorry and no clear road to drive into. I had to brake heavily and using all my GTA V driving skills avoided hitting him (and the central reservation barrier) before screeching to a halt. For a second or two all was well and i was congratulating myself, until... BANG! i got rear ended and my beloved Leon Cupra is no more. We had a lot of fun together, I'm going to miss it.

Right, what car next?

What a shame mate but hey as long as your alright a car can always be replaced (if you got the money :D)

I'm fine apart from a bit of whiplash and some bruising from the seat belt.

I thought about getting some T-Cut and giving it a good buffing but the insurance company reckon it'll be a write off. I doubt i'll get anywhere near what it was worth to me.

Unlucky mate. At least you're ok..

Laughed at the GTA V driving skills - it obviously worked but the player behind didn't have them :)

Bad luck mate. That your alright is the main thing

But why do we pay Insurance for stupid amount of money and when we have a accident that isnt our fault, we get half the amount of money the car is worth to us. It takes the piss. Now you have to find another car and your not going to get a like for like with the money they give u.

EXACTLY! It's most annoying and even though insurance is covering a hire car and paying out for mine etc i'm still out of pocket paying for stuff that isn't covered by insurance. Also i'm going to have to spend a lot more money than i'll be given back to replace my car.. so basically this crash i didn't cause has cost me thousands that i didn't need to or want to spend.

Still, at least i walked away from it.

unlucky , are you staying SEAT?

I'm tempted by a new Leon or maybe even going smaller and trying an Ibiza - looks like i'll be test driving a few different cars in my week off. In the mean time i have a new Citroen DS3 to play around with.

That sucks. Made me think, after seeing that thing about personal injury claims on the news the other week. Little wonder people put in dodgy whiplash claims, you get completely ****ed by insurance so its just another way of recouping the money you are due! If they paid you what you were due in the first place there would be no need!

That’s really unlucky mate, glad to hear you’re ok albeit slightly bumped and bruised. Hope you decide to get another Seat after your play around in the DS3. It beats the 800cc Fiat Panda that my mate had as a courtesy car that you couldn’t really play around in more fail miserably in. Good luck with whatever you decide to go with hopefully you will get a good enough pay out to go towards something nice.

Cheers for the replies everyone. I do love this forum, i must admit haven't/don't post much but i do read a lot of the threads and if i don't get another SEAT i'll miss the community on here. Everyone is always so helpful with problems etc.

Little update regarding my poor Leon.
I paid £3,500 for my Cupra 5 years ago and was pleasantly surprised with what the insurance company offered me. I of course haggled for a bit more and ended up with £2k. That was a lot more than I thought. I still miss it and am currently test driving various different cars trying to find something I want to buy.

So far the list is
A newer Leon TDI
A Civic 1.8 S
A Focus Zetec S (TDI version as they pull better than the sluggish 1.8 petrol)

Arghhh, it's a nightmare buying a new car!

Sorry to hear about this bud. That junction has always been a nightmare. People just pull out when it suits them. Glad your ok though. As gutting as it is a car can always be replaced .
